My wife does a lot of high fire work with her kiln. Turns out the thermocouple has a life of about 50 firings. This is the exact Skutt part we needed and replacement took less than ten minutes. If your Skutt kiln controller displays FAIL, you may need a new thermocouple.

This cane with Skutt labeling and packaging. In order to nest in the holes I had to slightly splay the positive and negative prongs a little, but then they slid right in. Quick and easy. Back up and running in no time.

No Video but I replaced the new thermocouple in my 10/27 and It reaches temperature again. Easy to do yourself or call Skutt for help, if needed.

I am a high school art teacher and my kiln worked great until the last week of the semester when it decided to quit working because I needed to replace this part.     • Acceptable ceramic kiln thermocouple
Cheap replacement for thermocouple that was too short for the kiln after adding an outer insulating blanket to increase heat. So-so quality, ceramic sections are very brittle and weak so a little delicate to set up without breaking the ceramic insulators. Checked the temperature accuracy, it is within 5 °F of my other two thermocouples at 2,000 °F. ... show more
