  • Fits wrist nicely.
Slim profile. Easy to read time.

  • A bit of a design letdown; sits oddly on the wrist; not from Denmark
I had high hopes for this watch from the listing photos, but in real life it ended up not being a favorite, and in several months of ownership I've ended up rarely choosing to wear it. My primary complaint is that the case of the watch body has an odd curvature that doesn't match the curvature of the leather band: it curves downward, then dead ends into a leather watchband that sits flat, making the way the two join together look like a total afterthought and creating a pinch point on my wrist. I love brown leather bands, but on this watch, I feel it clashes with the blue dial face. The typography on the watch also feels more dated in person than I thought it would: it reads less 'bauhaus' and more '1980's GM product' in context. As some background, "Skagen Denmark" is a fashion watch brand owned by Fossil. It was started in the US by Danish immigrants, but the connection is otherwise super tenuous to Denmark - no European manufacturing is involved at all in the production of this watch, which was made in Japan. In fact, "Denmark" is just part of the trademark and isn't a declaration of country of origin at all, which I felt was deceptive when I learned the true meaning. Everywhere on their web site, they are careful to state they're just 'inspired by' Denmark. I'm a bit bothered by the inauthenticity every time I look at my wrist because the Denmark subtitle is printed on the watch face. From a giftgiving perspective, the packaging for this watch was unremarkable and a little disappointing, too. The watch is simply wrapped around a bent piece of cardboard and sitting in a box, so it slides around; the plastic packing tape completes the middling first impression. The Skagen web site's Our Mission page shows some of their watches come with a lovely unboxing experience in an eco-friendly display box, but the one I received is plain and ordinary. Setting aside my design quibbles and complaints about the brand positioning, the watch itself is pretty well made. I've got no complaints about the manufacturing quality of the case or band, and the movement keeps accurate time. If the design resonates with you more than it did with me, and if the fit works better for your wrist, you can rest assured you'll be receiving a quality timepiece from a manufacturing perspective. This isn't a luxury timepiece, but it also isn't priced like one: it's quite affordable for someone who's looking for a way to express themselves through interesting accessories that aren't too expensive to change along with your mood. I just wish it fit and flattered my wrist a little better, and I would prefer the brand be more authentic to who they are and build their own identity focused on the Skagen name itself. ... show more

  • Pretty Cool BUT
I like this watch as it looks classy and it's a cool watch to wear around my meetings. It is a solid wear with the arm bands, but the arm band gets too dented too soon. It makes me think that i will have to replace the arm bands really soon. It looks good around to wear and it was super easy adjusting the time. Mainly for day use not for night. ... show more

  • Nice watch, good loking
The media could not be loaded. Definitely is a good looking watch, perfect for day and night time. Quality is good, it can be better but its a good watch for that price. Is very confortable when you wear it.

  • Good looking watch with Japanese quartz movement, leather band suitable for smaller wrists.
Handsome made in Skagen Denmark men's watch. The case is made of at least 50% recycled stainless steel, has Japanese quartz movement, with easy to read minute and secondhand movement. It is water resistant to some degree, although the directions it comes with state to "avoid water unless your watch is specifically made to be submerged (refer to ATM guides online)". This watch apparently withstands splashes of water and with the crown pushed in an airtight seal is created. I like the clean design and the leather watchband; my main concern is the length or size of the leather band itself. For a large wrist it would surely be too small of a fit. When the strap is secure at mid-point on the notches, the diameter is only 2 & 1/2 inches and probably large enough for a smaller wrist. The specifications do say the band size is men's standard. ... show more

  • It's okay...
Japanese movements, Chinese wristband...not sure what about this is Danish. Design, perhaps...? That aside, it's a decent enough watch, minimalist design (which I like), but could be easier to read. However, as the body is so thin, it tends to slide easily, and I'll find it sitting on my wrist in a rather uncomfortable position. Not ideal in the middle of the night. Still, it looks nice enough, but it could be better. So far, it seems to keep time well enough. ... show more

  • Excellent in Every Way
Yes, it's quartz. Yes, it's a 'fashion watch.' Go ahead and pooh-pooh it, watch snobs, while the more open-minded among us snatch up the value of a lifetime. Seriously, there's little not to love about this Skagen watch: In my opinion, it is quartz done right. First and foremost, with its mere 6mm case width, this watch is nearly half the thickness (and probably a quarter the weight) of a typical mechanical watch. Consequently, it provides a fit and comfort no mechanical can match. Additionally, the overall case size of 37mm is a veritable sweet spot of comfort for all but the smallest of wrists. Second, its sophisticated brushed steel case and minimal, Bauhaus-inspired face impart an elegant, easy-to-read look perfect for any occasion. With no date complication or needless text to muck up the gorgeous blue sunburst dial, this watch is suitable for even the dressiest of occasions. Finally, with the spring bars hidden beneath the case, the quality leather band has a sporty, integrated look. I'm pleased to report Skagen didn't skimp on the quick-release strap's buckle and tang. Milled buckle looks great, and while a little on the small side, tang feels sturdy and strong. Ample, closely spaced sizing holes will ensure a great fit. Downsides? For starters, the crown on this watch is itty-bitty, and not easy to pull to adjust the time. However, since this is a quartz with no date complication, you'll only need to adjust once or twice a year--if even that. Also, since the strap is designed for the watch, I don't know whether it can be replaced with one more to your liking. That being said, I think it's a great strap for the money, so if you like the look in the photos, I'm sure you'll like the real thing. Finally, at $125 at time of review, this Skagen is on the pricey side for a quartz. However, of the sixteen watches I've reviewed so far as a Vine reviewer, I'd easily put it at the top of the list. It's well-built, great looking, and an all-around winner as a value proposition, in my opinion. ... show more
