  • A review reply to Shaun Renew
I personally own this PSU. Picked it up off Amazon as well but it was just one of those things I didn't feel inclined to write a review about at the time. In any case, it's a good PSU given the form factor, no disputing that. Price for this is what gives it a 4-star rating because there are very few case uses for this type of power supply, that can output that much power, that actually require it. If you're an SFF builder, then usually a 750/850W is all you need on the high-end, even with a custom loop, and I say that with building in cases like a Meshlicious, A4H20, Q58, Ghost S1 MK III, NR200P and even an O11D Mini X (what this PSU purchase was originally intended for but ended up not needing it since an 850W was plenty for a 12900K and 3090 FE in a custom loop). All using hardware in the ranges of a 5600X, 5800X3D, 5900X, 12600K, 12700K, 12900K, 13700K and 7900X paired with the likes of a 3080Ti FE, 3080Ti XC3/FTW, and 3090 FE. Now that that's out of the way. For Shaun Renews remark in regards to cable swap outs, given this PSU is modular like many good mid-range to high end PSU's, simply put you cannot just swap modular cables from one PSU to another...typically and technically speaking. There are pinout types/differences across different brands/series of PSU's. In some cases, on the technical side, yes some series PSU's from "Brand A" may be the same type/pinout as "Brand B". This is not always the case though, so for anyone expecting that, take that into consideration. This is also why PSU extensions are still relevant even though you can outright buy sleeved cable packs to completely replace ones that come with a PSU, because pin arrays are just different sometimes for different PSU's. Just thought I'd throw that out there! Thanks ... show more

  • No issues so far
Powerful PSU, runs my new PC fine with an i7 13700K and an Intel a770 Bifrost. Haven't heard any noises from it so far while playing games or media creation. Just be careful of the size, it's longer than other small PSUs so you may have trouble fitting a GPU with it depending on the case (ITX). I'm using it in an NR200. ... show more

  • An awesome upgrade!
Running a 5950x with a 3080 TI (Galax HOF) on an X570S, previously running off of an SF750. I got the SX1000 because my PC kept crashing, I'm assuming due to the stupid power spikes from the GPU. I do a lot of creative work, and I often kept games on in the background with my millions of Chrome tabs. They're not all a waste of resources, I promise! However, my workload has increased dramatically as of late, and suddenly just moving a couple hundred GBs of files would just cause my PC to crash, giving me an Event ID 41. It just kept getting worse, to the point where I'd only use my Macbook and iPad for any reference material (eliminating those millions of Chrome tabs). Having my PC crash in the middle of work is just money down the drain. It got so bad that even outside of work I'd maybe have 10+ tabs open and Tower of Fantasy on, then the dreaded *click* and reboot:=Event ID 41. After I got the SX1000 I thought I'd just give it a nice little push. I turned on FFXIV and Tower of Fantasy, opened my tabs from my Macbook on here, and I started moving 4TB of work assets onto one of my other SSDs for fun. No Event ID 41! Hesitant to start up any CAD software at the moment, but I'll give that a go tomorrow morning. ... show more

  • Great PSU, could be better for the price
I had to buy this PSU for my build because the Lian Li 011D Mini has to use a SFX PSU and since I was running a pretty power hungry GPU and CPU, I really only had one option. To get the bad out of the way, my only gripe with this PSU is it seems like you can't use another companies cables with this PSU. I tried to use some EVGA VGA cables and they would not connect to the PSU. Weird for a supposed modular PSU... If this is wrong, I would love for someone to correct me. But that is honestly the only "bad". It provides all the power my PC can ask for and it's pretty much silent even under load. Can't ask for much more. ... show more

  • Solid PSU!
So far this power supply has been super solid. No issues after a couple of power outages, and seems to put out consistent power. Easily powers high end hardware with no unexpected shut downs. Only negative I have with this thing is the whining. You can here it depending on the power draw, a high pitch whine coming from it. It doesn't bother me, because I usually have headphones on most of the time, but just something to be aware of. Overall, happy with my purchase. I have always trusted Silverstone power supplies and actually have one 10 years old that's still going strong. ... show more

  • So far so good, with minor coil whine
I received revision 1.1 of this power supply, as per the item description which is great. Up and running for a few days in my mini-ITX build with a 450 watt RTX 3090, runs great. My unit has a bit of coil whine that I can only hear if I put my face right next to the vent in my case where the PSU sits. Hence my 4 star rating. I've never had coil whine on any other PSU. Time will tell whether it holds up, this is my first Silverstone PSU. Flat cables are convenient, no complaints. Incredible that I can fit a 1000 watt PSU into my mini-ITX case. I will never have to build a larger ATX based system ever again. ... show more

  • Not Noisy but Coil Whine Sometimes
Hi, I want to write my first review on Amazon for this product because it is not like what people commented here or on Reddit last year and it is not noisy now. Maybe they have fixed the issue and updated to a new version (v1.1). Update: Coil whine / squeaking appears for some games. For me, I hear the high-pitch sound when playing Cyberpunk 2077 and Warframe. Other power-intensive games or mining are fine, running without such noises. I got a replacement but still get this sound. Not sure what is the fix cause it only applies to some softwares, but the PSU works fine, the only 1000w SFX! Hope the noise fades away. ... show more

  • Fan/ coil whine
The fan noise 7 coil whine is bad enough that I'm changing it after 6 months. Maybe the new ones are better.
