The media could not be loaded. I ordered this polisher/buffer to try to improve the badly oxidized black paint on my 20 year old V.W. I know little about the art of paint finishing, maintenance and improvement, I was just looking for something that would somehow make my car look a bit more – well..... polished! The ad for this polisher states that it is built for powerful performance and is ideal for removing swirls, scratches, and defects to restore a vehicle's shine. ….. Just what I need! It offers 7 variable speeds from 500 to 3300 RPM - adjustable on the go. Its motor ensures durability and consistent strength, making it reliable for regular use. Its not all that heavy and the front grip and curved handle makes it easy to work with. The set includes all the essentials: foam pads in different gradients of hardness, wool pads, fine sandpaper, the handles, and a storage bag - to make it a comprehensive kit for shining up your car. It also includes a spare pair of carbon brushes for the motor. I've been reading that a random orbital action on your polisher is a requirement if you want the best of finishes. This polisher/buffer has regular RPM's only – with no Random Orbital Action. I did a small test area using the black pad and some oxidation remover setting the speed at its lowest of 300 rpm. The test was only brief and the weather was too warm and sunny to spend serious time on it, but at least I know now how it feels and handles. There's a lot of oxidation on my car's paintwork. It sits outside 24/7 in the California weather – collecting dust, dirt and at times ash fallout ...... plus its brutally hot three quarters of the year. Next step is to research a better oxidation remover and different pads etc, and go from there. I feel this polisher/buffer could be up for the job and for a price of just under $50.00... it's very affordable. Hopefully, I'll report back once i've completed the mammoth task! ... show more

    • Works OK but feels cheap
If you need to do some buffing or polishing casually and are on a budget, this isn't a bad option. I would consider the quality of this polisher about the same as a harbor freight version. Its not bad if you just need to use it for a couple personal projects but probably not sufficient if you are using it professionally or have a lot of polishing to do. Its pretty much the minimum possible quality required to get the job done a few times. Overall, the build quality isn't great. It feels like a cheap power tool which isn't too surprising considering the price. It was good enough to wax and polish some small sections of my truck but my use was very casual. I did like how it comes with all of the different attachments and accessories you could need for buffing. Its pretty much an all in one kit. You just need to get the different wax and polishing solutions for your intended application. ... show more

    • Affordable DIY polisher to make our cars shine and finish my resin table pours
The SILVEL 7” Buffer Polisher saves us $ on auto detailing. Love the 7 speed motor and all the available pads for polishing a great shine in car paint and chrome. This corded machine is handy because I don’t have to manage battery life, and the relatively light weight is less fatigue inducing than I expected. This polisher has a trigger-type switch that can be locked which helps with my hand fatigue. Speed is set via a dial on the top of the machine - locate it 180 degrees from the trigger switch. There are two handles that can be installed depending on your preference and what your project is, but there is no shroud around the arbor. At first glance this machine looks like an angle grinder but it is lighter and not as powerful, meaning it won’t kickback and punch me like my angle grinders will. And since I’m not grinding or cutting metal, there is no need for a shroud. The handles are easily swapped out. The instructions provide some guidance about when to use which handle, but I have drifted toward the side handle since that’s what I have on my angle grinder. My other hand stays on the trigger and I control the machine and pressure that way. I have another round polisher that will only accept a couple of different bonnets and it has only one speed. The price of this polisher, with all of the consumables included is a better value. This machine accepts sandpaper disks so I can use it to finish my resin table pours, and the other pads are good for car polishing and buffing. Like any other hand tool with a motor and variable speed, the faster the speed, the louder the machine. Also the faster the speed, the greater risk of damage to the surface, so I have been very careful to use only speeds 1 and 2 on our cars. The higher speeds will impact the surface more, which is what I need for my resin projects - those are on speeds 4 - 7. One “off label” tip to use with extreme caution and wearing all the safety gear - eye protection, dust mask and thick gloves: turn the polisher with the pad facing up and a sandpaper disk installed, clamp the body of the polisher into a bench vise (be sure to set the speed first). Engage the trigger and switch lock. Because this is not a random orbital sander, and the disks don’t have holes in them for dust collection, I now have a small version of a disc sander! I’m giving this a big thumbs up and high recommendation. ... show more

I got it to polish small parking garage scratches off my car which is soon coming off lease. I recently polished another leased car manually and it took a lot of time. This kit came with a nice soft carrying back. Inside is 13.5 Amp tool which looks very similar to an angle grinder, but has 7 speeds, finger actuated trigger and vertical handlebar for better control (standard angle grinder side handle is also included) . While you can turn it into 7” angle grinder by getting a disk guard and arbor nut and washers, you will not be able to convert the angle grinder into this tool due to lack of speed control. Kit includes 2000 grit sand discs, wool polishing discs and 6 color coded foam polishing discs with different softness. You only need to get polishing liquid to use with foam discs. Polishing liquids come in different varieties for use on stone or painted steel or aluminum for automotive use or for polishing stainless steel surfaces. It also includes a spare pair of carbon brushes. Tool has very easy access to brush holders (separate covers).Trigger is finger controlled (not a sliding switch) with a round lock button on the side. ... show more
