  • Wow, super fun
Color: 12in1-grey
Did with my 9 year old. It probably is too challenging without a teenager or adult to assist, but this is so fun and it is very inexpensive. A must buy for Lego fans who want to experiment with super basic electronics. Great quality. Instructions could be better.

  • Breaks
Color: 12in1-grey
****update. The company reached out and sent us a new one. Great customer service! My son got this for his birthday and just now started putting it together (after the return window) it has pieces broken already and is unable to be put together. He's so sad.

So, the company reached out to offer a solution as after sale policy. They seem to care about the customer service. Original Post-My 9 year old loves engineering stuff and this was an incentive gift to her. I helped her organizing all the pieces but she assembled the test run piece all by herself. We both know she did everything she suppose to do. Then, NOTHING happened after that thing being soaked in the sun for half an hour. Many reviews may not be creditable- this project is not scientifically possible. If you want to teach a young child about imperfection of life, go for it. ... show more

  • Fun Toy for Older Children
Color: 12in1-grey
I purchased this for Toys for Tots. I often buy toys to donate that are geared towards younger children. This seems to be a fun, engaging activity for an older child. Hopefully this sparks a love for engineering or science. I was able to get it on sale, which was a bonus.

  • SURPRISE!!!
Color: 12in1-grey
One of my family members spoke about studying and creating with STEM. I thought this would be a good idea to get this particular project to complete and challenged them with this. They have no idea that they're getting this.

  • A little disappointed in the quality, but works
Color: 12in1-grey
While it works ok, the parts are very flimsy and difficult for our kids to assemble - which is surprising because usually they're very handy with building things like this

  • Poor quality and incorrect directions
Color: 12in1-grey
Move on. This one is a dud. I have read a lot of reviews of products and decided not to buy them based on the review. As a result, I think I have avoided buying a lot of junk. This one must have slipped by though so now it's my turn to warn others. I honestly don't know why the others rate this so highly; I expect the parents are doing all the work and then handing the toy to their child. Even if this toy met expectations, it would NOT be suitable for kids younger than about 10 years old. The directions contain a 1:1 diagram (sounds good) but the diagram is not the same size (1:1) as the parts (very bad). Contains 190 pieces (sounds great), but you have to cut them all out AND THEN remove the extra sprues with the included nail file (now you too can do factory labor in the comfort of your own home!). Basically, they were just trying to save money by having the user do the work that should have been done at the factory. The instructions look like they would work (super!), but they do not (lame). The gear assembly requires several hands to hold it all together while getting all the pieces in the right place. Many of the axles have multiple stops on them where the washer can be placed to push the gear into the right position, however the directions do not state which stop the washer should be placed at. You can see how some of the parts are SUPPOSED to work, but they are not quite a good enough fit to perform as intended. As others have mentioned, many of the parts look the same, so it's easy to confuse them. There are different colors of plastic, which could have been used to differentiate between parts (a great idea), but instead the similar-looking parts are the same color as well (poorly executed). Yes, it's fun to watch the gears go around when the solar panel is placed in light, but no it is not fun to find that the parts do not go together as described. ... show more
