  • Solid SATA SSD for M.2
Color: 256GB
This review is for the Silicon Power 256GB A55 M.2 SSD. I’ve used Silicon Power SSDs before, just not SATA in this form factor. After ordering a M.2 USB enclosure that supported NVMe and SATA M.2, I picked this up to help ensure I was testing the capabilities thoroughly. PROS: - M.2 form factor SATA - 500MB/s plus sequential read/write on MSI B560M PRO M.2 slot - Around 450 MB/s in USB 3.1 Gen 1 enclosures, matching NVMe drives - SLC Cache - 3 year warranty/125 TBW NEUTRAL: - 125 TBW is about normal for Silicon Power and this size, just a little lower than some competitors using NVMe interface - No DRAM cache, but not really needed at the slower speeds of SATA III and SLC Cache onboard CONS: - Temperature sensor seems stuck at 40 degrees C (on mine at least) At the time of review, the price point of around $21 for 256GB is about as good as it gets for this size. This is also a good size for Windows 10/11 installation for a device that may have another drive or network for storage, or for a Linux installation. This of course for a computer that can use SATA III on a M.2 connector. 5/5, I’d recommend. ... show more

  • Okay budget upgrade for faster storage, older machines may need adapters.
Color: 256GB
Mounted easily on an NGGV adapter and tucked neatly away without needing a drive bay, totaling $37. Combined with a $30 i7-2600 (4-core / 8-thread) upgrade, it really woke up an i3-2100 (2-core / 4-thread) SFF workstation that was collecting dust. However, while SATA SSDs are ideal for machines old enough to need them, they're no match for PCIe3's 1700-3500 mbps. $400 gets you everything you need to upgrade to a 6-core with PCIe34, so once $100+ in upgrades are needed, a more up-to-date platform starts making more sense. ... show more

  • Using as a server cache ssd
Color: 256GB
Added to a pcie card to increase the capacity of the ssd cache on my UnRAID server

  • Decent drive, not fully populated with chips
Color: 256GB
This is a nice, cheap SSD. But, while it has spaces for 4 NAND chips, it only has two attached. On the 256GB, only the first and third chips are populated. On the 128GB, only the first and second chips are present. Not a huge deal and clearly how they can make it so cheap, but made adding a heat sink challenging, especially with the 128GB version. ... show more

  • Works Great with Argon One Case for Raspberry Pi 4!
Color: 256GB
When I picked up my Raspberry Pi 4 I went all out and got an Argon One SSD case. That case doesn't work with NVME drives, so after much research I picked up this one. I'm glad I did, because my Pi 4 boots up lightning fast, runs perfectly, and now I don't have to worry about a memory card randomly crapping out on me. I'll be upgrading from a 256gb to a 512gb version soon! ... show more

  • Good price, died at end of warranty
Color: 128GB
It worked fine for the price, but at 3 months past the warranty period, it just died. The pc it was in was only used on the weekends and it's my first SSD to just die. I currently have 9 computers running with SSDs. This was my only Silicon Power product.

  • Definitely worth the money!
Color: 256GB
My computer came with a 128gb m.2 hard drive and I have had to replace it 2 times. I decided it was failing because I used the full capacity so I decided to upgrade to a 256gb m.2 hard drive. It is holding up really well. I would recommend this m.2 hard drive.
