  • Have had about 2 weeks now.
The day This arrived I was so excited, I took it out of it's box (it was wll packaged, everything taped up and supported well. The extras were just kind of thrown in the box of the cameo, so that was a bit weird, but nothing damaged. Set up was a breeze, registration was a breeze. Set up includes downloading the silhouette software, which I suggest you do before plugging the cameo into your computer. But don't open it after download, just click the part that says do not open and then click finish. After downloading that, then plug the cameo into the computer go through the instructions to register the product, then open the software. The only weird part was when setting it up over bluetooth it shows the machine twice, and clicking one of them removes both upon connection, where clicking the other one only removes that one. And I can't tell you which is which since they are both named the exact same thing. I have not actually tried cutting over bluetooth. The UI on the cameo, it pretty intuitive, arrows buttons with a square around them at the bottom allow you to load and unload the mat/vinyl. the other abuttons you might never need, but they help reposition the cutting tool. I haven't had a single problem cutting anything out. Just been cutting random deisgns I've made, and seeing how small I can get it to cut, (it cuts pretty small by the way, can really get a lot of detail, but there is a limit obviously) The HTV that comes with this, are half sheets, but I believe the sheets that come are merely for practice, so you don't have to feel bad if it messes up, or to even see if the machine works. As with all machines with moving parts, there is always a chance a dud is given and needs to be returned. The auto blade is really good as actually detecting proper cut depth, even when you fail to change to material type before sending. I only had one issue and that me forgetting i set it to cut without a mat, but had a mat in it, luckily they ere small cuts, but also did not cut through the mat. The standard mat the comes with it as good adhesion, a little too good. after a couple uses when you take the item off little bits of sticky glue are left on the back, this is fine for vinyl sheets or even HTV but might be a problem with print and cut stickers you plan to sell. I've heard taking a clean cotton shirt helps though, have not tried it my self yet. Overall I am really enjoying this cameo, and have so many plans for it that I'm overloaded and now have to write them down and do them one at a time. My main use will be making stencils to air brush shirts that I plan on selling. (the shirts I make my self also). Key points. 1. great packaging, clean and well insulated 2. cameo is easy to use straight out of the box. 3. comes with a lot of great items, (i haven't tried the pens (I thought they were more marker like but they are actually more ball point pen like) yet but they look good quality) 4. the software has a bit of a learning curve. the main uses aren't hard to get down, it's the using the software to edit and create cut lines different from what they auto detect is a learning curve. Right now i use photoshop to design and it's easy to get them into the silhouette software, and the auto detected cut lines have worked out for me so far. I'm still figuring out the rest. it's not intuitive really, but that's what YouTube is for. ... show more

  • Absolutely love my Silhouette
I was hesitant to buy a vinyl machine at first because a lot of people said it was hard to figure out how to use. I can see why people would say that but the Silhouette website offers very detailed and easy-to-follow tutorials and there are countless amount of websites and YouTube videos out there to teach you as well. I am experienced in design but I had no idea how to use the machine or the program. I read the instructions and watched the tutorials it said to and I had mine up and running in no time. I was able to do my first test run in less than an hour. There is a lot to learn when it comes to settings and all the different projects you can do with it but TRUST ME there are so many different resources out there to help you learn. Once you start getting the hang of it then it's not hard to do. The only time you would need assistance again is if you start using different blades for different projects other than with vinyl. I have not done that yet but I can't wait until I do. The amount of things you can make with this machine is pretty much endless. If you are buying this to start making things for money or just to use it for a hobby you will not be disappointed that you bought it. Trust me. ... show more

  • Great machine
I am new to the silhouette or any cutting machine, before I took it out of the box I did a lot of research and watched many YouTube videos. I finally took it out of the box it was well packaged, watched the beginners video swing design has made, still I was a little intimidated to use it, so it sat on my desk for a few more weeks, finally I used it first it wasn't cutting through the vinyl but that was due to user error, got it right after watching a few more videos. Next I tried the sketch pens, made my daughter a card for her friends birthday. The first card went great, but the few after that were not. The pens were suddenly leaving drag lines, whelp back to YouTube I went. Got that figured out and I'm loving the machine since. Will update again when I get to more projects. ... show more

  • Amazing machine, misleading vinyl quantity/quality
This is a great machine I love it so much!! The amount of things you can do with this machine is astonishing, such a wide variety of projects you can do with it. I am a first time user and found it rather difficult to use the program and it was a bit overwhelming. A lot of trial and error, I would say for beginners it’s not as user friendly. I found that the amount of vinyl that comes with the machine misleading. The 12x12 permanent vinyl were definitely cut from bigger sheets of vinyl because they are not a smooth cut, you can tell they were cut because they look frayed and not straight. Pretty much all of the vinyl is permanent vinyl, and 6 of the “sheets” were HTV. But what really irritated me is they cut the normal 12x12 sheets of HTV in half and didn’t even give you full sheets of HTV which was bull crap. The six HTV sheets measure at 12x7. With the amount of money you spend on this machine, they can’t even give you full sheets?! So frustrating! So not really a bash on the Cameo 4 because it’s great, but I am extremely disappointed at the misleading vinyl issue. I would definitely buy the Cameo 4 again but not from this seller. ... show more

  • Very good product but need YouTube to show you how to use it properly
The media could not be loaded. First time ordering a cutter and this one is perfect. I have knowledge with the Graphtec, but not the Cameo 4. The Cameo 4 is pretty user friendly, but you do have to look some stuff up for it, which uou can find on YouTube. Had issues with the putting the auto blade in, so make sure that you put it in correctly or else it won’t cut anything. Some of the cut settings in the studio may be a little off for the vinyl, but if you look up the cut settings for the Oracal vinyl they will pop right up. But overall very very happy with this cutter. Worked when I pulled it out of the box even though UPS dropped it off upside down. I have used it for heat transfer vinyl and vinyl. ... show more
