Description

Inspired by advancements in running shoe foam and F1 tires as well as our own research into rolling efficiency, impedance and damping, we realized that new materials technology could allow for a significant improvement in handlebar tape. Using a laminate of SILCAthane, SILCAlon and 3M Visco-elastic adhesive instead of a single foam extrusion bar tape, Our tape can be optimized across a range of desired features. The resulting tape has a softer, more comfortable feel, higher wet and dry grip, better vibration isolation, and 3-5x the durability of existing tape materials. Since the actual wrap of the tape can be as important as the tape itself, we’ve also developed a full adhesive- backed ‘butterfly’ to better cover the back of the lever clamp area without adding bulk, a high grip finishing tape and expanding aluminum/composite end plugs to ensure every detail is perfect. We can sell you on our tape or you can look at the results from the biggest handlebar tape to date. The Tour Magazine bar tape shoot out in Germany put SILCA as the Test SIEGER! Winner as the best all around tape. Now available in Black, Blue, Red, Pink, Grey, and White in both 2.5 and 3.75mm thicknesses

  • Superb road bike handlebar tape
Superb road bike handlebar tape. Silca seems to always make well researched and outstanding products - long term user of the Silca super secret drip wax here. The local bike shop was a week behind, so I once again looked into installing myself on the awesome road bike. I came across the Silca tape, and watched the video on youtube and Amazon for the install. BTW, the install video is one of the best bar tape install videos out there, regardless of whether you buy their tape or not. The silca tape is a little more expensive, but if properly installed, I usually get a full year out of my bar tape... so easy investment. Install went great, about 45 minutes taking my time and sweating a bit to assure proper tension - key here is the persistent tension, pulling the wrap tight. I went for the figure 8 method around the hoods, worked very well. The "butterfly" piece works very well - I trimmed about 3mm on each side to fit my specific Dura Ace set up. Trimming with Sharp scissors was easy. Finished off with electrical tape and the Silca finishing tape. Protips: I"m not a pro. 1. The Finishing tape is VERY stretchy and the logo will fade with stretch (good!). Be careful with this stretch in the finish as it will change your estimate of the finish line/ending point of the finishing tape wrap. 2. I used 2.5. Might go with the thicker next time as my prior tape was a little more bulky in the drops. This is entirely personal preference with how much bulk you want on the tops and drops. 3. Color and grip is superb - the grip feels very good. 4. The end plugs are fantastic, best in show and easy to install - will post a photo of one. 5. Starting the wrap with the proper overlap and extension to stuff in the plug is critical... take your time and try multiple starts. I did one full wrap plus a bit more, and fiddled with what position on "the clock" to start the wrap. Love the design on the tape. Was a little hesitant as the stock photos are not very helpful. I"ll try and post photos - looks very sharp. Would like to see more colors. And finally, thanks again for this superb install video, well done! ... show more

  • Best handlebar tape
Size: 3.75mm Color: Black
This is the best handlebar tape I’ve ever used. Lasts a long time, is very comfortable, and it’s super easy to install. I was able to install it myself the first time I tried and the results were as good as my local bike shop. Highly recommended

  • Great bar tape
Size: 3.75mm Color: Black
High-quality, very thick and cushioned. Very comfortable.

  • Very nice tape, just a challenge to wrap because of the thickness.
Size: 3.75mm Color: Pink
Overall, I’m happy with this tape. Giving it 4 stars only because it’s a bit tough to wrap perfectly. Pros: Comfortable Tacky w/ or without gloves Vibrant color End plug is among the nicest I’ve used Long enough to wrap the entire bar easily The butterfly shaped thin adhesive pieces that cover shifter clamps are really nice and easy to use. Cons: Expensive The thickness makes it very challenging to stuff the overlap at the drop end into the bar evenly while still being able to fit the end plug in place and tighten it. Thickness also makes it a little to maintain just the right amount of tension on the tape while wrapping. I’ve wrapped a lot of bars using many different materials, thicknesses etc, and this one was challenging. But- in the end? It looks and feels good, and it does a fair job of muting vibrations. I’ve only got a few hundred miles on it. Too soon to comment on durability! ... show more

  • Feels great, good cush. Wearing well so far.
Size: 3.75mm Color: Black
Purchased 09/2023. Quality as expected from a Silca product. This tape wraps easily, has a nice finish, and is comfortable over all sorts of surfaces from paved road to singletrack. So far, it shows minimal wear compared to other brands (Lizard Skin, Fizik) I've used on my gravel rig.

  • Supacaz replacement?
I've been a huge fan of supacaz and have ran it on most of my bikes, but I ended up ordering this SILCA Cuscino tape due to the supacaz not being available and I might not go back to supacaz now. The SILCA is just as a grippy but has a little more cushion and I think it looks really nice.

  • Love it!
Size: 3.75mm Color: Cyan Blue
I have been a Supacaz user for years, but I tried this. Love it so far. Supacaz would shift and require re-wrapping after a few thousand miles. This tape is holding in place and has great shock absorption.

  • Horrible Instructional Video From Manufacturer.
This was my first wrap. The product seems very high quality and was easy to work with. Looks great. Time will tell. But, the instructional video provided by Silca is terrible. First, he wrapped a different model of tape but very plainly said this install applies to all types of our tape. Let me save you a little grief. If you are using this type, allow 50% over hang to stuff in the bar ends. Not 30% as instructed. You will never get it folded in otherwise. All throughout the video he would wonder off on a tangent. So if you are attempting to follow along you have to stop, listen then go on. He shows the figure 8 on the right brake/shifter. Not the left. Which is where I had my 2nd problem. I don't see in mirror vison. This was just a couple of problem areas. Do yourself a favor. Review several different videos first. In my opinion, this one is terrible. Many better ones out there. ... show more
