Well, my old pliers is getting rusty after couple trip to the ocean, getting awkward, need a replacement. I was recommended to buy these from a fishing group and I am extremely happy with my purchase. At first I didn't care for the fish grippers, but they came in handy for really aggressive fish when I was trying to unhook them especially striped bass. The pliers are amazing and have a cutter on them which is a lifesaver when I forget a knife or nail clippers to switch lures. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them. This is my second time to buy this plier, I bought one set 2 years ago, it's light and compact in size, I started to use it often. But unfortunately I lost the plier on my last salmon trip. Nice fishing pliers, love that it came with a leash to attach to my life jacket or pack. Line cutter works well. Finish is durable, but can be a bit slippery. The only downside is that they're too big to use on smaller sized flies. I haven't needed to use the gripper yet, but seems like it will work fine. ... show more

The nose is blunt and not very long, makes it hard to unhook smaller pan fish. There is no lock so when the pliers is unsheathed it pops right open. The gripper appears to work fine nothing impressive.
