siding installation tools
Size: 5/16-Inch
Style: Polycarbonate Body
The media could not be loaded. Using this method I was able to create a uniform appearance throughout the siding, making the project look polished and professional Trust me we can achieve the aesthetic we want while saving a building the structural integrity. Even after extended use, they felt well-m
ade and long-lasting. This assurance was important because I needed to know that the machine would not break down over time. Since the instructions included with the kits are simple and straightforward, you will have no difficulty at all in learning how to use each tool correctly This made the learning process quick and as a result, I was ready with confidence absolutely will start my career. To set it apart from other reviews, I want to emphasize how easy the kit is to use. This kit is suitable for a wide range of users, from experienced makeup artists to beginners like me, thanks to its user-friendly design and instructions Some capabilities may be intimidating for beginning users, but this package makes these simple tools.

The installation tools help speed up installation of fiber cement lap siding. They are well made and sturdy. Adjusting for exposure is relatively easy, unscrewing one knurled nut on each tool and removing the pin. The tools are dedicated to siding having bottom edges no thicker than 5/16". If this th
ickness was adjustable, these installation brackets would be much more versatile, allowing for installation of other types of lap siding. The cam engages and tightens the bottom edge of the siding tightly, but the rubber serrated sleeve that performs this operation appears it will wear, and have to be replaced. Instructions caution about overtightening that would cause premature wearing. Still, the cam has to lock down tight enough to support both ends of the heavy siding. I'll be able to get a lot of use on fiber cement siding, but I'll have to find something else for wood siding.

Solid well made siding tool
Size: 5/16-Inch
Style: The Aluminum Body
Great labor saver. These are built like a tank. Thick aluminum. I only wish they were micro adjustable. I haven’t figured out a way to adjust beyond the preset stops. Maybe I’m just new to these tools. Great for new construction or complete strip but if you have to match a custom reveal these might n
ot work well.

I have to replace some of the siding on my house and was about Midway through my project when I came across the siding installation tool. Because they were 12 ft pieces of siding it needed two to three people to hold it in place while securing it on the wall. This tool eliminated the need for that ma
king it one man job. It's very easy to use and helps hold the siding in place so that you could secure it at the exact position. I love that you can easily adjust the amount of overlap as well. This is such a great tool I think anybody who does work on siding should have it.

These work just like my Gecko gauges that I've owned for over 10 years now. They look almost identical. Same setup, same operation. There are only a couple of minor issues that I found with these. They won't affect the daily use of them, but are notable. First is the adjustment procedure. In order to
set the siding height and reveal you will need to remove a single bolt and nut, slide to the desired height setting and then reinstall the nut and bolt. The problem is that the holes are so tight that it is very hard to reinstall the bolt thru them (any of the holes other than the initial holes from the factory). It took me about 10 minutes to set both gauges up by wiggling and lightly tapping with my hammer the bolt end. The second issue I have with them is the fact that the screws that hold the friction tensioning material on have been left long. They stick up and if you close the lever down with your finger in the wrong place you can have the screw pinch your finger. The Gecko gauges have their screws shorter and flush. This can be a hazard if not made aware of during use. Otherwise these work great. 4 stars.

I am doing fiber cement HZ5 5/16" lap siding on my house one side at a time. I have one side done so far and used Gecko Gauges for that one side. One pair of gauges work well but I found due to imperfections in the siding planks I would need to move the gauges down the board as I was nailing. At that
time I thought it would be handy to have another pair of gauges to help keep the planks perfectly straight while installing. I came across these and noticed they looked very much the same as my Gecko Gauges but a few bucks less so I thought I would give them a try. Turns out these gauges are almost 100% identical to my Gecko Gauges with the only exceptions being these have a 5/16 stamp on the back side, the friction grip pad is green instead of black, and the adjusting nut is slightly smaller. Other than that they are exactly the same in every way, shape, color, and size. So much so you would think they were made at the same plant, came from the same mold, and just had a different label put on them. Something to note, my Gecko's are labeled to be used with pre-painted or non-painted fiber cement. The label on these say they are for non-painted however the instructions say they can be used on pre-painted. I think they will work just fine with pre-painted planks given they are identical to the Gecko's. I absolutely recommend these for anyone doing 5/16" thick lap siding especially considering they cost slightly less than the other brand (at the time of this review).

If You Are Putting Up Fiber Cement Plank Siding, These Will More Than Pay For Themselves
Size: 5/16-Inch
Style: Polycarbonate Body
These siding application tools for plank siding are an absolute necessity if you are a DIY person. I had to replace some rotten wood siding on my chimney box and these made it a one-man job for me. All you do is clamp them to the plank below, set your next plank in the adjustable slot, and then both
hands are free to nail the plank in place. Even if you have a friend that can help, you would be smart to buy another pair for him to use. These are made of tough polycarbonate and can be adjusted to the amount of reveal that you want.

They list fiber cement but will work for LP or any other style of siding that comes in the strip style. They include very detailed instructions for even the most clueless homeowner to figure it ou

I really wanted to like these
Size: 5/16-Inch
Style: The Aluminum Body
(For some reason Amazon did not put the photos in the order they were numbered and the order in which I submitted them. I had them alternate between this product and the Gecko to show the differences. Oh well, I tried.) I have a lot of siding to install and I wanted another pair of these tools in add
ition to the Gecko ones I already have. I tend to like the Hardie beaded siding, and it causes problems for these tools since the tool's grip area happens to fall right in the indentation for the bead. With the Gecko I found simply putting a piece of 5x7 flashing over the siding made it grip really well. Unfortunately, this tool has a much, much deeper gripping strip (as seen in the photos) and not only is it too tight with the flashing, it even is tight without it. And that is where the problem lies with these. Everything is well designed and well made, except for the piece of metal that fits behind the siding. It is too thin and too flexible. I was surprised that the Gecko with its plastic was stiffer than this one was being all metal. Much less flexible in fact. And even though they have an advisory sticker saying not to overtighten the locking handle, that is a poor excuse for not making that back plate stiffer. After only three tightening cycles the back plate already is bent. Not acceptable. When I tightened it only half way so as to not bend the back plate I watched the handle slowly loosen, which would leave me with my siding falling at one end unless I nailed really fast. I should say that I did at one time purchase the cast metal version of the Gecko but returned it due to not working well with the beaded siding. For some reason the plastic version works much better. I'm half tempted to fabricate a stiffer back plate for these clamps because they are nice. The 6" adjustment, which is what I like to use, was 6" almost on the nose. The Gecko has a lot more adjustability, but it takes a bit finding the correct combination of holes to get the right depth, which is why my 6" spacing in the pictures makes the Gecko look like it falls short of the next row of siding. It looks that way because it does fall short. And the design of these is good. They just goofed up on a combination of two things. They used sheet metal on the back plate that wasn't rigid enough to maintain its shape, and will continually bend ever further, leaving a bigger and bigger gap at the top. And they have a very deep grip strip that pushes a lot against that back plate making it harder for it to stay straight. Otherwise these are really good, and I just might make a better back plate for them. I do intend to try these as-is with regular Hardie lap siding to see how they perform. But in a test I just did with the beaded, hoping to just slip flashing behind without tightening, where it sat nicely against the siding, it held really well, right up until it didn't. Then it released very rapidly. I'm going to keep playing around with them to see if I can improve their performance.

These fiber cement mounting tools are essential for me to own because I'm working alone most of the time. When hanging long sheets of hardie siding I usually had to call my cousin to help, but not anymore thanks to these hangers. They are very easy to adjust for different reveals. If you hang a lot o
f siding cement board you need a pair of these. You don't have the cost to pay someone to help you as well as the install will go faster.

For 5/16th lap cementitious siding, seems to work as described, adj reveal gauge
Size: 5/16-Inch

We will be siding our farm with H plank cementitious siding this year, it's on order. Got these to better install the plank (more uniform look, secure). The tools appears to work as described, husband is happy. We haven't actually used them yet for the job, but I will update this review after we do s
o. Note that the gauge is adjustable for different amounts of reveal. Also note the warnings about over tightening the tools. Go by the manufacturers recommended installation procedures and needs on their spec and tech sheets - we have to screw in ours for high wind issues. (Pictures show a photoshopped looking nail gun.... ah no.)

I am installing a few new areas of Hardy siding and came across this tool. It is helping make the process far faster than without. I no longer have to measure out and turn double check the size of the exposed siding for consistency. I’m finding tire time saving well worth the purchase. I don’t instal
l siding professionally so I don’t worry too much about the durability of this item but for others this is made from a hard plastic and with rough use I could see durability issues. However the time saving on a professional situation would more than pay for itself.

This is just as good in every way as the other brand we've been using, but this one is less expensive. I would recommend this set with a
5-Star rating for a quality product.
