The media could not be loaded. This shovel is pretty good at breaking through thatched grasses and tearing through roots. The point is well defined and sharp to give a clean cut through. The shovel and main handle are very good quality made of a thick durable metal. The top handle is the weak point. It’s plastic and is held in place with a slip fit and set screws. They do not go through the metal handle , so any twisting movement causes the plastic part to swivel no matter how tight you make the screws. It’s fine and works great for simple jobs like new plantings and straight dig and lift. Just no double digging with flip over or twist motion. I love the shorter size. You definitely get more force with each stab into the soil. Overall very good shovel that needs a more durable handle. ... show more

This shovel feels surprisingly sturdy. It was very easy to assemble and comfortable to use. It will be great for some small jobs around the garden. I also recommend it for families with kids who are interested in the gardening because it is the perfect size for children as well. Usual shovels for kids are extremely flimsy and break very fast, but this one can really work and they can get really involved in the gardening on a serious level. ... show more

I got this shovel to use for planting perennials and small shrubs. I live on a small mountain and rocks are not far below the surface, so this smaller shovel is perfect working around them or digging them up in situations when a trowel is too small and a larger shovel is more than I need. It’s working well for my planting needs with a few caveats. While the shovel and tube are metal, the handle is plastic. That definitely means there’s a weak part that might not last as long as the rest of the tool. Since the handle isn’t bolted into the metal tube it also has a tendency to twist at inopportune times. While the listing says this is for digging, the instructions – such as they are – say it’s an ice chopper. I can see it being used for both purposes, but some clarity would be welcome. The instructions are lacking in detail and could be confusing for anyone unfamiliar with putting things together. For example, bolts are never mentioned in the parts list or instructions even though they’re included, as are the tools you need. Overall I’m glad to have this small shovel and hope it will last for a while. ... show more

Nice little shovel, 31 inches long, easy to put together, and portable. This would work very well for camping or even light gardening, but it is not made for heavy duty work. This is great for me, as I collect wild plants from time to time, and sometimes dig for rocks. This is heavy enough to do the job, but light enough to carry around. It has a nice foam comfort handle.
