  • Basic 3-in-1 Machine, But Arrived Broken Loose In Crate.
If you do not have a light sheet metal rolling mill, a brake (for folding/creasing thin sheet metal), or a sheet (thin) metal shear, then this 3-in-1 machine will give you an entry-level version of all three. That said, it get s just 3 stars instead of 4 because the machine arrived in a wooden crate (~45 kilograms, ~100 pounds) loose and rattling around: the two meager lag bolts (they should've used 4) had long torn loose from the wood crate bottom, and the inside of the crate was hammered and splintered from the cast-iron machine banging around. That is *not* what you want to see when opening up machinery. Also, it was covered in cosmoline (expected) imbued with sawdust and wood chips (not expected) from the shredded crate interior. Further, the two Slip Roll Adjustment Knobs were each shattered, knocked off their respective threaded shafts, with the pieces rattling around loose in the crate. If you get this machine, you'll need to assemble the handles and such, and be ready to spend an hour cleaning it up inside and out before you can use it. Once up and running, it passes muster if you need the basic functions. OK for the price. ... show more

  • Good and heavy but doesn't travel well.
Bought this because I thought it was the best quality for a great Amazon price. Was disappointed when The Shop Fox M1052 arrived damaged. It ships in a crate and it's poorly attached to the base. The top sheet-metal roller cover comes loose when it's screws vibrate loose (either on the slow boat from China of at the hands of UPS) and then it gets all beat up, bouncing around in the crate. I spent an hour rebuilding the crate so it could make its return trip back to Amazon. Two days later, a replacement one arrived in even worse condition than the first. I finally gave up on it and bought the same unit branded as Woodward Fab SP-3-1-12. It arrived in a double cardboard box with bubble wrap between the two boxes. Inside the smaller box, the SP-3-1-12 is packed with molded stryrofoam. When completely unboxed, it was in pristine condition. This is a good unit if you get one that isn't beat up in shipping. Know that it will take some time and patience to clean off all the preservative grease, tighten up all the fasteners and to dial in the shear. A set of feeler gauges are needed to properly dial in the shear, so order those if you don't already have a set. ... show more

  • But it is easily 2x better than the micromark
i was trying to make due with a micromark shear, and it would not cut anything! I am able to use the shop fox shear now to cut thin metal and printed circuit board material. It struggles with thicker stock, and with a full 12" long .062" pcb board you would have to wail on that handle-the handle is a little too short for the proper force to be applied. But it is easily 2x better than the micromark. I am happy with it. If you need to really cut long or thicker material...you really need a 36" shear with a long handle. Product update: 2 years later, and this puppy is still going strong. Makes precision cuts in sheet metal and PCB material. ... show more

  • As advertised
Does exactly what it says it does. Well made machine, easy to fine tune, good quality. I noticed a lot of people complaining about having to clean it off. It does come with a substantial amount of anti-corrosion compound sprayed on it. Beats getting a rusty wreck imho. Cleaned up easy with a little degreaser. Make sure to follow their recommendations, ie don't use brake cleaner if you like the paint. Only downside is the brake will only bend 90 degree angles or less. You may have to cut a shim to put behind your stock to get a full 90 degree bend every time, but not a big deal. All in all I would recommend. ... show more

  • but needs lots of degreasing and fine adjustments to be ready for use
I bought this one as it had the lowest price + shipping costs. It works, but needs lots of degreasing and fine adjustments to be ready for use. There is pretty much _only one_ 12" 3-in-1 sheet metal machine sold in the US, the original manufacturer and model is: TTMC Model 3-IN-1/305 (http://ttmc.cn, Tengzhou Tri-Union Machinery Co., LTD.) also sold in the US as: Grizzly, MODEL T21320, 12" COMBINATION 3-IN-1 Dayton, Combination Shear, Brake And Roll, 12 In Woodward Fab, SP-3-1-12 12" 3 in 1 Bend-Roll-Shear Machine Why do they even bother to brand this with meaningless labels? I'd rather have it labeled TTMC. It's not like we will not find out who actually made these. ... show more

Handy little tool for light gauge metals. I mostly use the shear and slip rolls and all is well. You do need to spend some time setting the clearances on the shear but once it's done, it stays adjusted well and cuts well.

  • Good for the price
First delivery was damaged in shipment. Return for new one was fairly painless. Second one arrived in good shape, but with most of the bolts loose. It is coated with a protective goo (rust inhibitor) that needs cleaning off, so I guess having all the bolts loose helps with getting it apart for cleaning. Don't try to use it before getting it cleaned up, tightened & adjusted.....it won't work (very well). Once I had it adjusted & tightened, I tried to cut .010 stainless steel (302 full hard sheet). It didn't work....I played with it for awhile, but still could not get it to shear this tough stuff. Perhaps we'll figure it out....it cuts softer metals just fine. If you're planning to cut hard 304/304 stainless sheet, I would not recommend this unit. ... show more

  • Save you money
I was excited to get this system, but once I received it the excitement turned to disappointment. First of all the unit arrived damaged. One knob was broken, the top cover was bent and scratched, the shear it always getting out of adjustment. Keeping the metal straight when bending is a challenge. The overall construction is good, but the functionality stinks. If it wasn't going to be such a hassle to pack in the crate again; I would be sending it back. ... show more
