While I purchased these for sun protection, these afforded me excellent arm protection from the onslaught of biting ants, mosquitos, flys and other things for which I don't even know the names. Excellent for reaching into a flower garden to snip and prune. My only disappointment is that the light colored ones fray nylon threads and discolor after several washings, so they become outdoor gear, not clothing- they are inexpensive enough to put up with that. ... show more

I recently developed an allergic reactions to my strawberry plants. I am have allergies to other plants at well but we have a ton of strawberry plants. Since I do all of the gardening this became a problem. I would have to stop what I am doing take benadryl and put cream on to stop the reaction and then get back to work. I live in Wisconsin where it can get humid and I did not want to where a long sleeved shirt just to work in my strawberries. I also wanted sleeves that would help keep my cool. As soon as I got them I put them on and went straight into my strawberries to give it a test. That day it was in the high 80s and 75% humidity.
