  • Great tire
I bought these tires for my Versys 300. These are like a more aggressive version of the IRC's that come with the bike. They grip well in conditions that these bikes were designed to encounter and they will last a long time. My previous set of tires were Shinko 804/805's and they lasted 15,000 miles. Don't be afraid of the low price. ... show more

  • Good tire, fair price.
Easy and natural fit for KLR650. Good traction, good mileage. Some road hum at 60 mph.

  • 30% dirt 70% dirt

  • Great price with a less than spectacular ride quality.
I have only ever used Shinko brand tires on my Kawasaki Versys, and have always had good ride quality and a decently long lasting tire (around 9k miles on a set). Every Shinko tire I've had up until this one has had a surprisingly smooth ride quality. This tire for some odd reason just doesn't ride as well. I am still satisfied with the quality, grip, trustworthy name brand, and tread life; I will just make sure to spend a little bit more money next time for hopefully a smoother riding tire. ... show more

  • Shinko 705 greatest do-all dual sport tire
I bought this tire to replace another 705 that is getting worn out on my klr650. My 705s have seen approximately 90% road use in the hills of WV. The other 10% has mostly been fire road and access road usage around the Mon forest and back roads. My experience as it relates to this review is that I have done GNCC racing, track days on my r1, and international cross country trips on a st1300. On dry pavement, the tire is confidence inspiring to the point that I have carved turns where the feelers of the pegs have touched pavement (no easy feat on the klr). I have had no slippage with the 705s on pavement. Even when it is hot out, the tires never feel greasy. On wet pavement, the tires do well. They channel water well and I have never had occasion to feel as though I was going to lose traction in the straights. In turns, when I am a little to hot on the exit, I can feel a controlled slide out of the tire. This is not a bad thing. I knew that I was pushing the tire and compared to a more knobby tire (which can have a uh-oh feel when it breaks traction) this tire worked great. In deep gravel, I am sure that a knobby would track better, but the 705 worked well and although I had to slow way up for turns, there was not the back and forth wishy-washy feel of a sport bike tire. The tire brakes well in deep gravel as well. There is some instability in the turns on deep gravel. For hard pack gravel- other than turns- I can ride at freeway speeds. Turns are stable. Avoidance maneuvers (for animals, rock rises in the hardpack, deep gravel center humps) are easily accomplished. I have taken the tires in sand close to the swing arm height and been able to tractor through (although there probably was a solid base to grab on to). I can drive up steep inclines in wet grass without having to worry about getting stuck(the tires will spun for traction though). Basically this is, for me, the go-to tire for my dual sport adventures. I like to ride fast to get to my destination areas and then be able to venture off for off-the-beaten path fun. This tire has not let me down. My rear tire is at the wear bars at ~1600 miles. I attribute this mileage to aggressive riding. I have no doubt that double that mileage would be possible for a more conservative rider. For the traction the tires give (for the riding I do) and for the price line of the 705s, these tires are unbeatable to any other I have tried. If I were to do desert riding or we're to be taking a long off-road trip, I would spoon on a knobby and this would not be the tire of choice. But, even if I were to commute 100% on road, I would choose this tire. ... show more

  • Great 80/20 tire at a low price
I haven't had the opportunity to ride on any unpaved roads yet but I suspect that they would be fine on forest service roads and easy trails. Their design does not make them appropriate for heavy-duty off-road use so this should not be a negative. I find them quiet on the street with very good traction wet or dry. They mount easily and didn't require excessive amounts of weight to balance. For the money you can't beat Shinko. I can't really tell any significant difference between these and the much more expensive Distanzias they replaced. I don't know if they will last as long as the Distanzias but at this price who cares. ... show more

  • T100 Bonneville - If you could only see my rear! Oh wait! You can!
Running currently only on the rear on a T100, because I was curious and I was looking for something that would handle better on back roads that were gravel or dirt and some grassy situations. Some Pointers of the experience so far: The stability for loose and wet seems very good for low speed. When coming to stops you'll feel and hear the tread blocks the most, especially after breaking loads. At most driving speeds you will not notice that much tread block noise, after the first ~800 miles at 65-70 mph they now make noticeable noise after the tread block has had time to wear off the hard edges. To quantify the amount of road noise it is now loud enough to be heard over the normal levels of transmission whine on the T100 at those speeds(most street tires for this size are dead silent). Treads and grip still seem great after 1500 miles of road trip and mixed use driving. After going down to a Triumph meetup I feel less crazy now about putting this on a Bonneville T100. After seeing for those who have Thruxtons, Bonnevilles, Tigers, etc are finding their way to running these for their GOOD performance characteristics and durability. I'll probably end up getting a matching front and update the review after enough time has passed. I've had this on for the last month and a half. ... show more
