  • first fancy reel
Size: HG Left
This was my first expensive reel and I felt dumb getting it. No regrets now though, it is absolutely amazing and a joy to use.

  • The king of BFS
Size: HG Left
Smoothest and super light. A joy to cast.

  • #1 BFS Reel On The Market!
Size: Gear Ratio: 7.8 | Size: 22 Right
This is the second BFS reel I've purchased, the other being the Shimano Scorpion, and this Aldebaran is amazing! Buttery smooth reeling, smooth clicking drag system and is easy to dial in with a variety of lures the lightest so far being a 1/8oz. micro crank bait. If you're looking to get in to BFS fishing look no further than this reel it's awesome! ... show more

  • Nice reel
Size: Gear Ratio: 7.8 | Size: 22 Right
Quality made. Don’t fish anything under 1/8 ounce, if your using 6 lb line.

  • Love this reel
Size: HG Left
Got to Cali quick, buttery smooth and a must have for any BFS setup. It’s hard to use anything else for BFS

  • happy
I matched this reel with a Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse rod....the combo is so light (8.5 oz.) it feels toyish! but wow it can cast!

  • The only BFS reel you'll ever need.
Size: HG Left
Properly set up and matched yo the right rod for the application you're using it for. This reel can cast ultra light lures further and with more control than a spinning set up. Will be buying a second one.

  • Not enough drag to handle bass over 2 to 2.25 lbs in cover.
Size: XG Right
I dreamed of being able to get this reel for a long time before I got it. It does cast very smoothly. If your version of BFS or reason for doing BFS is to catch small fish in open waters, maybe a lazy river, it should be just fine. While I have a few issues with the reel the biggest for me is the max drag. Twice I hooked into a bass I know to be right at 3 pounds. He dives down into the weeds and spins and fights almost like an alligator. I got a decent hook set but when I tried to pull him out of there the reel just slipped and slipped and slipped. As hard as I could pull it would just strip line giving him slack and sure enough, both times he threw the bait. How did I land him? On a KastKing Kestrel Elite with 13 pounds of drag which let me set the hook and keep the pressure on and ball him and the weeds he hid in out of the pond. I never thought I’d see the day when a KastKing would completely best a Shimano Aldebaran, but there really isn’t anything this reel does better. I will give it a slight edge on general feel, but that doesn’t matter to me when you can’t land the fish. The biggest fish I could get this to pull on came in right around 2.25lbs, not in heavy cover and that was with the drag tightened down so hard I was afraid I would break the reel if I went any harder. I’ll go to three stars for that, but for the price and for the brand, this should be an embarrassment for Shimano. ... show more
