This is an extremely moisturizing hair mask. I always read the ingredients on hair products, because I like mine to be as close to organic as possible, with little to no bad ingredients. I completely avoid these ingredients: •dmdm hydantoin •dimethicone •PPD/para-phenylenediamine •propanol •Triclosan These ingredients can cause hair loss and hair breakage over time. Most of Shea Moisture products don't contain these, and this one sure doesn't. I also have low porosity hair, which means my hair is hard to get moisture into due to the hair cuticles being very closed, and are not open much at all. This works for my low porosity hair, and I use a heated bonnet with it to open my hair cuticles so the mask can penetrate the hair shaft more easily, so it can deliver that moisture it desperately needs. I've even mixed a small amount in with my Shea Moisture leave in conditioner for added moisture if my hair is feeling a bit dry. It also smells very good, and leaves my hair soft and shiny, even on day 2 hair. Do if you wanna go longer in between washing + styling, this will probably help. I just prefer to rinse my hair every 2-3 days. And it's affordable to, so that's a plus. I will absolutely purchase this again for sure. ... show more

I’ve tried so many hair masks and this is honestly my favorite! I’ve been using it for years now and it’s so affordable. It smells great and I only use on the ends on my hair before rinsing so I’ve never had a problem with it being greasy. My hair is on the drier side and has heat damage.

I like the smell. It is not too strong and smells a bit creamy and nutty. Originally I really like its texture as well since it is very light which is different from the conditioners and treatmentS I bought from drugstore. However, I think it is the reason that I might apply too much on my hair. Even I take a generous amount of product, it is so light that it doesn’t feel like doing anything on my hair. I am not sure if it melts or absorbs lol Also, it is a bit heavy for my hair since even I applied a generous amount of conditioners and treatments I used before on hair, they won’t make my hair greasy. FYI I am an Asian with low porosity dark hair. For the first time I use it, I used after shampoo and conditioner and left it for around 5mins before washing it. My hair turned out to be a bit greasy. Then the second trial is replacing my conditioner with it. It is still greasy but better. I will try using less product in the coming trials. ... show more

I've purchased this product in the packet, and you definitely get more bang for your buck with the container. It has a light fragrance that stays and is pleasant.
