we replaced our old copper lines with pex about 2-3 years ago. we used quite a few of the sharkbite connectors as well as the crimp type. we have bought both sharkbite removal tools (the little u shaped tool and the squeeze tongs looking tool.) this tool may be a lot more expensive than buying both of those tools combined (at the time of this review you could buy both the other tools 4X ea. for the price of this tool) however the other 2 tools while they do the job, this tool does the job so much easier and a couple of sharkbite fittings that we just could not get off with the other tools, this tool had no problem with doing the job. so if you are young and strong and going to do very few changes you can save some money, however if you want a tool that will last and you never have to worry about different size fittings this tool is well worth the investment and may very well save you money in the long run. ... show more

I went back and forth if I should invest in this tool or similar. I went with the shark bite brand as that was what I was going to use it for...removing shark bites. I am not a plumber but I am a do it your-self-er who gets called upon by friends and family any time they have a plumbing problem. More than a few times I have had to undo someone else's mistakes. Lets just say this tool makes removing shark bites about a 1/2 second, incredibly simple task. And it is well made and will last forever i am sure. After struggling for years with the simpler disconnect tools made by SharkBite, I bought this one out of desperation. I had two SharkBite connections that I could not budge nor could my much younger and stronger stepson. The Pro tool was effective, along with my old-man (71 y.o.) super strength, in getting the connections to come apart by myself, even in one awkward location. Okay, the simpler tools work okay in a YouTube demonstration on a workbench, but for the real-world awkward situations, the Pro tool will work more quickly and more reliably. It's expensive, but it could save you from having to call a plumber or handyman. If you expect to do any more SharkBite plumbing, get this tool first. ... show more

I have been using sharkbites as a diy person for years. They are kind of a pain to get separated with the little black washer looking thing. I checked out the removal tool at the local hardware store, and I could hardly compress the toll, let alone with a sharkbite in it. I bought these somewhat expensive plier things to give them a shot. They worked pretty good and it was easy to remove the pex from a 1/2" sharkbite. Fast forward a few days. I am under a manufactured home in the mud from a leaking pipe. I am stretched out laying over a 3 or 4 inch PVC waste line reaching out as far as I can. There is a 3/4" sharkbite connected to the water mail line. I grab this tool and put it on the connector. I squeeze the tool and the 3/4" line slides right out. It was so easy. Worked perfectly. This tool feels sturdy, like it will last for years. Very easy to use. I tried the small hand held ones from a plumbing supply but it takes a lot of pressure to get those to work. With the handle design on this, it is much easier to get it to release the fitting. Not a band price for what it does either.
