  • Well Constructed / Worked in a Pinch
Size: 1/2 in., 4 Pack Style: SharkBite Max
As a plumber I'm not big on push to connect fittings. I was in a tight spot and these worked great!

I have a 4 year old labrador ADD. She was able to connect a water line for me for using Sharkbite adapters. Its that simple.

  • Perfect Out Of Water Heater/Tank
Size: 3/4 in. Style: SharkBite
When I replaced Water Heater/Tank, I had to cut the copper pipe; I had no easy/cheap way to DIY with copper pipe UNTIL I was told of this fitting. I bought this fitting (with another shark bite 3/4 fitting), connected with 3/4 Pex into copper pipe & it worked perfectly.

  • This fitting really saved the day
Size: 1/2 in. Style: SharkBite
I had to change out a tub valve through a tiny 7 inch round opening . This fitting had 4 pipes: A hot and cold PEX, a PEX running to the shower, and a hard copper line running to the tub spout. All fittings were iron pipe thread into the valve. The PEX fittings will slip and rotate (with some difficulty) so I was able to unscrew them, and I was barely able to fit a mini tubing cutter around the copper to cut it. That's where this SharkBite fitting came in. With a bit of delicate attention to the end of the copper to make sure that it wasn't sharp, this fitting slid right over the copper and allowed me to tighten it into the valve body. Everything lined up like before and nothing leaked. This took all day, but that was due to the tiny opening that i had to work through. This SharkBite was the easiest to install (30 seconds) and everything is just as rigid as before. Well worth the money. My only concern was that there was a bit of solder on the pipe that I delicately filed off. After that I polished it off with 600 grit sandpaper to eliminate any possible remaining file marks. If there had been a solder bump or file groove, it is quite possible that would have resulted in a leak, since the sealing location point is to the outside of the pipe. In the end all worked out well, and I am satisfied. ... show more

  • Real time saver.
Size: 1/2 in. Style: SharkBite
Put in new shower valve and used these and Sharkbite couplers to go from valve with pex and the Sharbite couplers to join pex to old cpvc. They worked well, the new Sharkbite Max don't have the insert sleeve which I now prefer. But these worked well. Yes Sharkbite products are expensive but I've used other brands and would often have to remove them and purchase Sharbites. So, now, I just complain and buy the Sharbites anyway. ... show more

  • Sharkbites simplify installations
Size: 3/4 in. Style: SharkBite
When I first saw a sharkbite at my local hardware store, I thought, That's gonna be *so* useful ... if it works! I put it in a difficult application, near a pump that vibrates in a system with heated water and fluctuating pressure ... but also in a place where if it blew, it wouldn't flood the house. At the time I thought that the ease of installation was enough ... but now, two pumps and six years later, the ease of disconnecting, and the brute reliability of the connection, has me throwing sharkbites at plumbing problems all over the place! They're polymorphously perverse: you can shove pex, copper, or CPVC in there, and the connection *works*. In places where firing up a torch and soldering is scary (like in the crawlspace under your house) a sharkbite or two works as well, and reduces the anxiety by a couple of orders of magnitude. Talking to my plumbing parts supplier, I asked him if "real plumbers" (I'm a DIY property owner) use sharkbites, and he laughed. "Some hate 'em, because they're too easy," he said. I asked about reliability, and he recounted his company's story: when they first came out, the 'too easy' factor was in everyone's mind ... so they made up a tester with a pressure tank and a couple of sharkbite connections and then used their shop compressor to take the pressure up to about 120psi. For several months, they expected a pop or a hiss, but the pressure held steady. So the apparatus got pushed to the back of a storage area and forgotten for a few years ... and then, at long last, there was the expected whoosh! They pulled the apparatus out, only to find that the pressure tank had rusted through and failed. He did offer a caveat: the only time sharkbites fail is when the pipe being pushed in has a sharp edge, and damages the o-ring. So be sure to eliminate any sharpnesses, and bevel the tube end slightly before shoving. There's a cool little orange tool specifically meant for beveling and marking pex for proper insertion: worth the price. You'll also want the little orange doo-hickey that lets you release the device from the tube for removal. ... show more
