Getting a conical burr at this price point is a fantastic deal. With the coffee more evenly crushed and less fine dust than flat burrs or blade grinders the coffee it produces is much less bitter, more fruity and flavorful. Great options with the select-a-size hopper and grind controls that are easy to use and see, however a bit unintuitive for a novice. Seems to produce the appropriate amount of coffee for a household pot at the default setting or a few seconds shorter. The container seems fairly static resistant with almost all grains of coffee removed with a sturdy tap. For a fine steel mesh filtered pour-over, grind setting 40 is ideal. ... show more

The grinder is an upgrade for me from the Cusinart Stainless Steel, DBM-8 model. It was a flat burr grinder. It still worked fine but sounded like a jet engine at start up. Way too loud and I had for 18 years. The Shardor is much, much quieter and grinds the beans in a more consistent manner from fine to course. It works great for a conical burr grinder. The outside is wrapped in stainless steel and has some heft to it. It does not feel cheap and flimsy. It's also very easy to clean with the enclosed brush. The hopper is a good size, but the collection container is a bit on the small side but that is a minor quibble. For me, that's fine, as I am the only one in the house that drinks coffee. It comes with a 1 year warranty, but if you send them a picture of your Amazon order invoice via e-mail, they will extend it to two years automatically. I sent my picture the day it came and they responded the very next day. So far, that's excellent service. The product is made in China, however it is of very good quality and they seem to stand by their product. Even some of the very high end grinders are made in China. The media could not be loaded. Cons: I agree with others that the container for the ground beans isn’t very large, but it’s not an issue for me since I only make 4 cups worth. It’s still big enough for a full pot unless you like your coffee REALLY dark and strong. I also wish that the container were clear instead of tinted. Lastly, the grinder is fairly loud. I had the basic Shador grinder before this and it was quieter (still not quiet though). Pros: Huge hopper for the coffee beans. Grinding settings (coarse to fine) work well. I like the timer option for the grinder and it remembers the last setting. It’s fairly sleek and narrow. Lastly, the anti static actually works!! I don’t find grinds everywhere. One of the first *purchased* reviews of this SHARDOR Conical Burr Coffee Grinder I offer my insights based on a purchase rather than a promotional trial. I will admit that it took me a couple minute, but after a few trials, probably enough to set the grinders, I am impressed. The machine is well built and simple. Put coffee in the hopper, select a grind time using either increase/decrease buttons, and press start. I usually use 15g for a single cup of pour-over style coffee. Putting precisely 15g of beans into the hopper and selecting 15 seconds conveniently results in the timer shutting off just a second or two after the beans are gone. Admittedly a quibble, but in the interest of a complete review, I don’t get 15g of grounds out. Only 13.5g come out into the grind chamber. You can get another half gram or so out by tapping the machine on top and side, but the remaining grounds stick in the conical section of the burr, requiring a clean out. That’s best accomplished outside with an air can. I don't think any grinder would perform any better. The main reason I purchased this machine was to grind larger amounts of coarse ground coffee for cold brew. So the very first attempt at using the machine for a coarse grind, and I was somewhat disappointed. I found the grind size too fine; more like a medium. But after running three more trials, rotating from the finest to the most coarse setting, the grind sizes are spot on. The fine setting is something I'll not use, but it is powder! Great for espresso and Turkish coffee, I should think. And most important to me, the second run on the coarse setting resulted in a nice, coarse grind, perfect for cold brew and French press. In conclusion, I suspect that running a couple of grinds, while switching between fine and course, is necessary to calibrate those wheels, leaving me with an inexpensive, and perfectly acceptable new coffee grinder. ... show more
