Because I'm probably going to sound a bit enthusiastic about this grinder, I want to clarify that I am not receiving any kind of compensation for my review. It's freely given. This is just a beautiful little grinder. It feels solidly built and it's very good looking. Both blades work like magic. You get whatever you're grinding exactly the way you want it since it has several levels: from very fine to course. And it does all quickly and efficiently. I had my doubts because in the literature that came inside the box, it mentions that it is only a coffee grinder and dry spices. I have used it for so many other seeds, spices, even things like ginger, galangal, star anise, cinnamon sticks, etc. etc. Just about anything I need to grind for my cooking. Also, you don't have to keep your finger on a button to keep it going, press once and it'll stop when it's has reached the desired level. And it’s quite easy to clean. Every other spice/coffee grinder I looked at you either had to grip the unit with your hand and SQUEEZE the lever with your index finger and thumb and hold it to grind for however long you wanted to reach a desired consistency. Or you had to PRESS DOWN from the top with one hand using your index finger, thumb, or hand, and hold the unit with your other hand to grind for however long you wanted to reach a desired consistency. This is a problem for those with pain and/or arthritis, especially, the holding of the unit and pressing for a period of time. This Shardor product easily solves this problem. Put in whatever you want to grind, set the amount of time to grind, and lightly press the button. The machine does all the work for you. You don't have to hold and press anything. I love being able to put the different bowls and lid straight into the dishwasher. I had a Krups spice/coffee grinder that was a good product, but you couldn't remove the bowl to clean it. Different ground up spices would often built up in the bowl causing it to slow. This was something I didn't want to deal with ever again. What's more, with this grinder there are two different bowls: one for herbs and spices that has two blades, and the other for wet ingredients like garlic, onions, ginger, etc. that has 4 blades. Whenever I've had to chop garlic I had to use my food processor which was a hassle. No more with this Shardor spice/coffee grinder. I can finally chop wet ingredients without dirtying a big food processor. One last thing, the two-blade bowl is loose compared to the four-blade bowl. The two-blade bowl is NOT defective or broken. When I asked the company why this was they responded, "The bottoms of our two blade cups are designed to have gaps in them. The purpose of this design is to minimize noise when grinding. Please don't worry about the quality, if there is any problem, we will take care of the warranty." What I like is that they not only responded to my email through Amazon but when I registered the product on their website they responded to my inquiry there as well. I do believe they will stand behind their product for the warranty period, and so far, I'm impressed with its versatility and quality. Incidentally, the sound when grinding is minimal. ... show more

People, this thing does the job in such a short time period. There’s no noise at all. Doesn’t even feel Like it’s even working even when you’re next to it. Definitely not as quiet as advertised. My Hamilton Beach grinder whispers compared to this product. It does grind well and the cover fits snuggly. The fit is basically air-tight so when waking up people is a concern, I grind before bedtime and the ground coffee stays reasonably fresh. Update: the second one fit better and has worked perfectly with no issues for a couple weeks. Timer works well and coffee grounds are perfect and stay inside the bowl. Changed to 5 stars! Original review- The four prong cup for wet ingredients has a nice tight spinning blade. The one for the coffee grinder however is loose- it wobbles about and dumps coffee grounds into the bottom compartment after you grind! So not only do you have to clean the cup you also have to clean the part underneath the cup of the spinner itself. I'm exchanging this hoping that the loose spinner was a defective one, and will update if the issue is solved by getting a replacement that hopefully does not have a loose spinner blade. Grind quality is great, I love that you’re able to change the setting really easily. Great value for money. Can hold and grind a lot of different things very easily. The internal cup that grinds comes out and is super easy to clean.
