I didn't want one of those industrial looking mats with the rubbery smell so I thought I would give this type a try. First off the mat is on the thinner side so it would be great if you had a door with very little clearance on the bottom. I didn't have this concern but I know other people have it. The rug is also machine washable so that is a plus. As for the colors, they are magnificent. The color I bought really helped tie together the other colors I use in my decorating. In fact I like the look so much that I came back and ordered two runners to protect the wall to wall carpet in two hallway. I also bought a large rectangular rug that I put under the coffee table in our family room. I was looking for a very simple, cheap, inexpensive, but useful floor rug for a rental house to protect a wooden floor for use under my rolling office chair in lieu of buying one of those plastic roller sheets for office chairs, which may have scratched the wooden floor. One alternative was to go to a thrift shop and look for a worn out rug, which I thought I could get for something like $25 but no those were often even in thrift shops a lot more so I started looking on Amazon. There were multiple choices, but because of the colors I finally chose this one, because it looked nice in the pictures and more importantly, it was incredibly cheap. I was completely gob smacked when it arrived, not expecting much, but the quality, even though synthetic was absolutely outstanding, and it felt like a plush, authentic cotton or light wall rug. The colors were excellent and the base of the rug with the anti-slip bottom was perfect for a wooden floor . These kinds of rugs that are made this well are perfect for things like home offices or kitchens or under a living room table because you could hardly tell the difference between this and a very expensive rug, although of course, if you wanted to you could. But for whatever purpose, If you’re going for saving money and a decent look, I would say this is it. I stress that I was very, very surprised and very, very pleased with the quality and the look and the feel of this thing. By the way, this kind of rug is much cheaper than a plastic mat for a roller chair and it works fine with a roller chair. We recently added wood flooring to our home, and our dog thinks it’s lava. 30 years ago my husband bought a rug in Turkey that we love, but I find the colors hard to design around. I was going to throw it into a spare bedroom, but hubs was adamant that we use it in the living room. Since the dog keeps slipping on the wood floors, I had to come up with something. Originally, I thought I would go with a solid color rug in a coordinating color, but in my search for something washable, this came up. Bought 2 separate (colors/patterns) sets of these rugs - satisfies my eclectic love of colors and patterns. I have washed and dried the smaller ones but washing the bigger ones should be done in a jumbo capacity laundromat washer. They absolutely are NON-SLIP which is essential with saltillo tile flooring. Usually I have to put carpet pad beneath rugs not only due to slip, but to keep the outline of the tile floors from showing thru, but not with these!! The larger ones can also be vacuumed easily (on "floor" setting vs "carpet"). Only wish they would make these in solid colors too!! ... show more
