  • Excellent Seiko Quality
First, this is NOT a watch for someone with large wrists or hands. It is for the small or average size individual. The leather strap is stiff but is attractive and well made. (Straps can always be replaced.) The watch is very well constructed which is typical of Seiko. It is made of high grade stainless case and sapphire crystal. The dark green dial with gold hands and markers is elegant. The magnified date window is terrific as you can actually read the date! Have not monitored yet for accuracy but given it's a Seiko, it is reasonably accurate for its intended use. The seller experience was excellent and timely. Price is very affordable for such a quality product. Good watch to start or add to a collection. Seiko gets better and better in the products they produce. ... show more

  • 7.5" Wrist Size, That's About All for the Strap, But this Alpinist is a Green Gem !!!
This Seiko Alpinist is the 2020 version of one having a near 20-year run, but this one has a new internal 6R35 movement with a 70-hour reserve. You can read the reviews for the SBDC091. It's a beautiful watch with an eye-catching emerald face, a new cyclops magnifier for the date at 3 o'clock, excellent luminescence, and it is simply attractive all around. And, if you get lost in the green forest, you can use this watch as a crude compass! I really like it. Here is the 'however': I do wish Seiko would have included a longer band - say another half inch to an inch is all it would need. As it is, I have a 7-1/2 inch wrist and it's comfortable on the last hitch mark. Flexing the leather a bit near the spring pins seemed to help, but length would have made a bid difference in comfort, as I like to wear my jewelry watches over the wrist knuckle (which is more that 7.5 inches around). All in all, this is a bargain of a watch, a diamond in the rough! Build tough with screw-in crown, it's good for 600 feet of H2O. Get one, and you will be part of a cult following this Alpinist movement from the '60s. Love the looks of this watch! Update 05Jul2024 : For some reason this timepiece began losing twenty minutes per day! Started acting up early this year, so I have sidelined it. Will have to open it up and fix it. ... show more

  • This is a genuine JDM Alpinist
I want to talk about the buying process first: This is the JDM version of the Alpinist, model number SBDC091. As a new watch collector, I was hesitant to buy from an international seller. But all the papers are included, the box was correct, and it has the hang tag. Also, I live in the southeastern US and shipping was fast. FedEx shows that the watch shipped from Mishima-Shi, Japan on Thursday 7/16 and it arrived to me on Tuesday 7/20. I would not pay for expedited shipping. As for the watch, I’m just now getting into watch collecting, and up to now I have only had dive watches. All of them are 40mm or larger. When I opened the box the first thing that struck me is that this is a small watch. Too small, at first. But I’ve been wearing it all day and it’s growing on me. The strap is fiddly. I felt like I needed a third hand to get it on the first time but once you have it adjusted, the clasp works just like a metal bracelet. The only other thing I noted is that the leather is stiff near the lugs. It needs a break in. Overall, I’m very pleased with the seller and the way the watch was shipped. The size is growing on me. I may switch to a bracelet at some point. ... show more

  • Beautiful watch. Small band.
I love the look of this watch. I received it promptly from Japan. The face is smaller than I anticipated, but about the same size as other Seiko watches I have (I thought it looked larger in the pictures). For me the issue is the band. I really wanted the leather band to work, but it is incredibly small. I have large hands and wrists, but even on the last hole it doesn't even come close to fitting. I have 8in wrists and now I'm debating keeping it and replacing the band. ... show more

  • New watch no warranty
Purchase this watch and found out afterwards the it was overpriced at least compared to what I could have bought it for here on Amazon for that matter. There is no limited edition model of this watch. The difference is this model I bought is actually made for Japan customers. The warranty card that was included was completely written out in Japanese except for the one phrase in English which says only valid in japan. I don't believe Amazon was responsible for this. This really sours my taste for Seiko. ... show more

  • Exceptional Quality / Value for the price
Great watch for the price. The band is really nice but takes some getting used to. Smaller than others but i knew that going in. The dimensions are clearly listed so not a big deal. Just don't care to wear my high end watches.. Draws to much unwanted attention. I enjoy these very attractive / quality automatics from Seiko and other SUB 1K options. Just don't see how you can go wrong with a watch of this quality and price ... show more
