  • Quality craftsman ship
The watch is beautiful in the sun light or anytime and keeps excellent time. Seiko tradition of quality and affordability continues. Not to big, just wright on the wrist.

  • Gorgeous if you have a big enough wrist
I love this watch... I have a Bulova automatic that I was hoping to find a good, affordable, automatic watch that is less than $250 and great quality, and this Seiko fit those criteria. But, as a 5-foot 3-inch woman, it didn't fit my wrist. I love large watch faces but there is no way to put a small enough band on it with the size of the face... I was hopeful, though! Fortunately, it fits my boyfriend well and he loves it as much as I do! I still give it 5 stars cuz it is just as described (except the box it came in was nice than in the pics) and a beautiful timepiece! ... show more

  • Heavy Hitter
Do you want to take a big swing at life? Wear this watch. Its style is iconic of the 60s to 70s, and it is best viewed over shag carpeting or through a smoke haze with ashtrays in the background, and best enjoyed while doing stuff that gives you heart disease. I've got to say that I think Seiko said, "lets re-make this line of Recraft watches and despite the inherent short comings of the movement they are built on and the price point we are trying to hit, WE WILL MAKE THEM AS PERFECT AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE in fit, finish and accoutrements." This is my third Recraft, and I am still amazed at how accurately they run, how high the build and finish quality, and how much fun they are to wear. Yeah it's not hackable, meaning the second hand does not stop when you pull the crown out. And it's not manual winding, it's self winding while you wear it. And it's not really waterproof to the degree that you can safely immerse it. All of these shortcomings have some meaning to you, if you own one: Non-hackable- you won't be able to set it on the exact second you want to, and also implies you don't want to move the hands backwards when you pull the crown out to the second detent because you are basically stopping the movement and pushing it backwards against the wound spring! Don't do it! I know this because as a kid in the late 60s and 70s I bricked every manual wind Japanese dive watch I ever got due to 1. doing the reverse hands movement 2. over-winding it. 3. immersing it even though it said it was "waterproof". Non-manual winding-- well you cannot overwind it like I did every watch I owned as a kid. But also means that if you don't wear it and don't have a watch winder to store it in, then you will have to reset the time and date after every 2nd day that it sits. Not waterproof-- treat it as if it is only water resistant- don't immerse these at the most it can take is some water splashed over it, etc.. but any length of immersion will probably kill it. As long as you work within these constraints, you will be pleased and it is part of the joy of owning one of these Recrafts: it is a step back in time, and the style is legit- if you're not a heavy hitter, wearing one of these will get you closer to being one. I added an orange Italian leather rally strap which accents well with the orange sweep second hand-- incomparable combination-- go big (and bright) or go home! ... show more

  • Bold, handsome watch, with an unremarkable bracelet
I recently came across a review of the Seiko recraft on ablogtowatch.com from June 6, 2015, by Matt Diehl. It was a glowing review of a unique, and affordable timepiece from Seiko. I was intrigued and decided to order. Pros: -The look. I think this watch appeals to certain sensibilities, and not everyone will be a fan. Personally, I think it looks incredible. The dial is a deep, reflective green, that looks bold but tasteful in any light. The orange second hand, relatively large case and the curved sides of the case keep the overall appearance decidedly contemporary. Yet the gold accents at the hour marks, combined with the gold minute and hour hands, are a distinct reminder of the wristwatches my father wore more than thirty years ago. -The movement. This is by no means a high end automatic movement. But Seiko's 7S26 movement has been around for years, and is a dependable component in a watch in this price range. -Features. Setting the day and date complications is easy. Not pictured on the product page is an exhibition case back. The watch is water resistant to 165 ft. -Price. At $149.00, this is a unique, well-made, automatic watch at an excellent price point. Cons: -The Bracelet. In his review, Mr. Diehl writes "The lightly tapered oyster-style bracelet with signed buckle feels more substantial than one might expect and looks great – it’s an organic part of the whole watch." I have to disagree on this point. The bracelet feels cheap, and has a finish that is not consistent with the case itself. I plan to replace the bracelet with a leather strap. After searching for images of the Seiko recraft with leather bands, I think a leather strap maximizes the vintage aesthetic and overall appeal of this striking time piece. -No lume. I'm not certain that lume could have been easily integrated into the design of the watch, without compromising the intended look. However, it is a notable limitation. Conclusion: In my opinion, this is a stunning looking watch that successfully combines modern design cues with nicely executed nostalgic touches. The price is unreal for an automatic watch with a dependable movement and great looks. I would love to see if offered with an optional leather band, but I can certainly take care of that on my own. As noted above, the "vintage" recraft look will not appeal to everyone, but I think the Seiko recraft automatic is well worth the modest price for anyone seeking a distinctive watch. ... show more
