  • Outstanding Quality
Color: Blue Style: 3K1 Pattern Name: Sport
This Seiko 5 divers watch is both attractive and purpose built. The watch is exactly as depicted. This is a very attractive dive watch. The face is vibrant, the hands ease to read, the lume is bright and the band is very sturdy. The rotating ring has the correct amount of resistance, it moves easily but isn't going to move due to just wearing the watch. I especially like the ease of opening and securing the clasp. I was able to resize the band with simple tools and the addition of arrows on the inside of the band was an excellent assist on getting the pins in correctly. The watch has kept time accurately and it has been easy to maintain the automatic spring wound with daily use. I have been happy with all of my Seiko watches and this one lives up to my expectations of quality and craftsmanship. I highly recommend this Seiko watch. ... show more

  • Nice entry level diver
Color: Black Style: 5K2 Pattern Name: Specialist
For starters, this is a “desk diver” for me. I don’t even swim. I got this style watch for the rotating bezel, it helps track my break time at work. I’ve had manual wind watches (cheap watches way back in the 70’s/80’s), plenty of digitals, a dozen quartz watches, even a couple of “smart” watches, but this is my first automatic. I feel like I have my first “real” watch. Accuracy is terrific. After wearing it for a week, it only gained five seconds. A quick hacking of the movement brought me back to synchronized with GMT+5. My picture shows an upgrade I performed on day two, the bracelet. The most frequently criticized quality/feature of the SRPD55K1 is the bracelet. I got the SRPD55K2 so I could skip the Seiko bracelet and have the leather/rubber strap instead. I picked up a 22mm “Beads of Rice” bracelet… beautiful combination. There are watch mod sites where you can buy parts to tweak your watch to exactly what you want if you are so inclined. I’m going to change my bezel insert to a black and green lumed version for additional functionality and personalization. This watch is fantastic right out of the box, no modifications are necessary to make it a great daily wear. It’s the best $220 I’ve spent in a long time. The fact that it can take modifications easily makes it fun to personalize to your specific tastes. I am definitely picking up another Seiko very soon, something dress casual (SRPH87?) to wear when I’m not showing off this sport model. ... show more

  • My first mechanical watch
Color: Blue Style: 1K2 Pattern Name: Sport
First foray into mechanical watches. Good brand and nice looking watch (I got the all blue dial/bezel with the blue NATO style strap). Like: * Really enjoying foray into the world of NATO straps. * Love being able to see the movement with the clear back * Good easy to read lume you can easily see well into the night * Love the polished stainless steel on the watch lets you dress this up or down. * Perfect size for my wrist (7.25 inch wrist) * Generally like the idea of this low tech (no electronics at all) yet beautiful work of mechanical engineering on my wrist. Don't like: * Accuracy is not like quartz... mine runs fast. It's correct enough where it doesn't get annoying but this is not a watch if you're obsessed with accuracy * Bezel looks like it will get scratched sooner or later (hasn't yet). Wish it was a glossy bezel instead of kind of a flat color. Overall: If you love the idea of a little machine with no electronics or batteries on your wrist, will make you happy. As kind of the main form of jewelry men wear, a wrist deserves something classier than a drab smart watch. Giving a 4 star rating because of the couple of downsides I mentioned but, for this money, you can't generally get a value like this for a mechanic watch. ... show more

  • I love this watch

I’ve been wanting this watch for a while now and finally had an excuse to indulge myself. It’s comfortable, looks good and the luminescence is very readable at night. BTW, it’s self winding.

  • Seiko is not what it used to be.
Color: Black Style: 5K1 Pattern Name: Sport
I figured I would buy a new Seiko dive watch, get the old one fixed. The one was dads bought in 1982, bezel is jammed, glass is scratched, and loses time alot. But it does work. So I get my brand new Seiko, hmmm its slow to, always adding a few minutes a week. Then 6 mo after purchase, it stops working, works when it feels like it, can hear something loose inside. Well here we are, just under 1 year from purchase and its costing me nearly half its purchase price to fix it. Seiko dealer said $100 to get my 11 mo old Seiko back. Thinking $100 just buy a decent watch from someone else. Cause nobody at Seiko can enter the serial number and go dang, less than a year, who cares about the warranty card. I bought ONE Seiko watch, and it will be my last. Is it water resistant, never took it diving to find out. Didn't work long enough. ... show more
