If you are looking for a bookcase to fit in a small area, yet able to hold a good number of books, this is a good one. It was fun to assemble. There are picture instructions included, which is always appreciated. It snaps together quite easily and the screws are effortless to insert with minimal pressure. I would not recommend this bookcase for a crawling baby's, or small child's room, because it is not made to be sturdy enough for support or climbing. I got this shelf to add to my daughter's bedroom for some nick-knacks and books. I knew it was going to be small and it certainly is. I did not read where it said the material was PVC though. It makes it light and easy to clean but it is like a dense foam so you have to be extremely careful installing all the screws so you don't strip them out. It is easy enough to assemble though but the directions are just pictures so you have to pay attention to orientation. My main reasoning for my rating is that since this is thing sheets of PVC foam is it somewhat flimsy. It does the job but I don't see it liking a whole load of books. The exposed 32 screws looks pretty cheap as well. I wouldn't try to slide it around with any weight on it. The real issue though is that the edges of all the pieces look like they were cut with a rough saw. Nothing is smooth and it just looks unfinished. Considering how inexpensive decent looking particle board shelving can be, this is just way overpriced at $39.99. If it was about $15 I could expect the unfinished-ness, but not for what they list this at. ... show more

    • Overpriced but nice enough
This is a nice shelving unit but it’s not one I would use as a bookcase. It’s made of plastic and is lightweight. It’s small, measuring 36 inches high. Those would all be negative things for me in terms of my using it as a bookcase, but those things make it great to use in my closet to hold shoes and purses. I do think it’s overpriced for a plastic bookcase when manufactured wood bookcases of similar size are widely available for $25 or less, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. ... show more
