This is the first time I have ordered seed starting mix online and I am so glad I did! This mix by Midwest Hearth Store is great and so easy to use and so far, my seeds are doing great! It is very lightweight so it’s easy to move the bag. I used planter seed starter containers and the mix was very easy to fill. You do need to add water to the mix and then wait for a few minutes before you add the seeds to moisten the mix because it is dry. Then you add the seeds, more potting mix and then water again. One bag goes a long way. I planted 3 - 12 seed containers and still have 1/2 a bag of potting mix left. I will order this potting mix again and highly recommend! ... show more

I used with YAUNGEL seed trays with grow lights. Also MET certified heat mat. All seeds sprouted great except chives. They may take longer to germinate. Basil cilantro tarragon tomatoes dill coleus all flourishing . These results may seem minor to a green thumb person. I have accepted I had a brown thumb. When the product arrived, I wasn't fond of the texture. It reminded me of loose sawdust. However, I had to use the product because I needed it immediately. I was planting okra and to my surprise, it did very well. The stems of the okra were thick and very healthy. I grew the okra starts under grow lights. They were much healthier that the ones I started earlier without this starting mix. I will be a repeat customer because of the success I had with the product. Bag of soil came with moisture in the bag and it seemed it took awhile to get here but overall I'm happy and satisfied my seeds sprouted just fine. I would recommend.

I used the Seed Starter along with the Burpee Super Seed Starting tray. I put the soil into the tray, put a 1/4” depression in each of the 36 slots, dropped in 2 seeds per slot, sprinkled the soil mix on top of the depression and then sprinkled everything with water. TWO DAYS LATER the the seeds were sprouting. The packet suggested it would be 7 to to 15 days to germinate!! ... show more

I had 8 peat small peat pots with seeds in my sunny bathroom. 10 days later there were 5 flies in my bathroom. And 3 in the adjoining bedroom. None downstairs where the doors are and no open windows upstairs. Did the flies hatch from this soil? Anyone else see this? The soil grew seedlings. I threw it all away. ... show more
