Description

The Seasonic FOCUS GX 80 PLUS® Gold certified power supply is rated to achieve 90 % efficiency at 50 % system load. ATX 3.0 and PCIe Gen 5 ready with 600 W 12VHPWR Gen 5 cable It is a flexible solution that optimizes cable management and reduces clutter inside the computer case. This ultra-high power density, small footprint (140 mm deep) power supply is an ideal choice for all cases, especially compact ATX ones. The lubrication inside the FDB greatly reduces friction, vibration and noise and increases the lifetime of the fan. The industry's first three-phased advanced thermal control achieves an ideal balance between silence and cooling at all loads via three operational stages: Fanless Mode, Silent Mode, and Cooling Mode. The benefits of this system are: - The Fanless Mode provides unsurpassed silent performance. - Heat dissipation is optimized while noise output is kept at the minimum. - The lower number of fan rotations extends the life of the fan. If the PC case requires constant active cooling, there is a switch at the back of the power supply which allows users to turn off the hybrid mode and have the fan run at all times. Top-grade, Japan-sourced components extend product life and ensure operation stability under extreme conditions. Improved load regulation reduces voltage variations to provide smooth and stable operations. Enhanced +12 V current capability broadens utilization possibilities. Superior dynamic response and greater system stability maximize the 12 V DC rail output. Sea Sonic's engineers have implemented a new design feature, where instead of cables, the back panel and PCB (Printed Circuit Board) are connected by a copper plate. This breakthrough solution not only lowers the chance of production errors during manual insertion but it also improves output power quality. I've typically used Corsair RM gold series for custom PC builds and upgraded the cables. The performance has always been very good, never a problem but more recently I ordered a new Corsair RM 1000x for a new build and received a used unit, that reeked and appeared of poor quality. It was returned along with the CableMod cables I'd purchased to go with it, after which I ordered the Seasonic Vertex and what a difference between good and exceptional. The Vertex is super quiet, has a small footprint and comes with premium cables. There's no need to upgrade the cables with the Vertex as they're easy to work with and look nice. This is the best power supply if you are looking for one of the most reliable, efficient, and versatile options on the market. This power supply is fully modular which makes cable management a breeze when only using the cables you absolutely need. It also includes both standard PCIe power cables in addition to the 12VHPWR Cable that most newer NVIDIA graphics cards use. The cables themselves are well made, and they fit the aesthetic of most systems without the need for cable sleeves or extensions. For my system, this has powered everything effortlessly without any crashes, performance drops, etc. The power hungry parts in my PC are a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 4080 Super which it handles just fine along with all the other components. I am not much of an overclocker, but I have found that it handles increased power limits on the GPU just fine too. The power supply is very efficient and doesn't waste or use any additional power than what is needed, and it has worked great for me in the few months I have owned it. I like that it includes all the cables needed to support a triple 8-pin GPU power connector, two CPU power connectors, the 12VHPWR cable, as well as all the cables for powering accessories and storage drives with the Molex and SATA cables. Overall, there really isn't much to say other than this is a very high quality power supply that should more than hold up for several years before a replacement is needed. All pros for this PSU from a first time builder: You can immediately tell the build quality as soon as you unpack. Attention to detail is very high. Super quiet operation. I don’t use the hybrid mode. Regular mode is dead silent. Functionality is perfect, no issues. One of the best things I can say is I haven’t thought about it once after completed build. Introduction: The Main reason I chose this power supply Is the brand Seasonic Is a reliable power supply manufacturer that I have purchased from before. They are solely focused on providing quality power supply's. I have owned a few different power supplys from Seasonic and have not had a problem with any of them at all. Pros: Quite - The Focus+ Gold 850w Is very quite I have not measured however I would say the loudest I've heard it get up to is around 20 db (Decibels) which is quieter or on par with common case fans. Fully Modular - As expected with the title of the product the power supply is fully modular. A great feature to have since If there are any problems with your cables, say you accidentally cut one you can easily replace it or you can install your own cables for a nice look to your computer. Wattage - Being a 850 watt power supply means you have plenty of room for upgrades without having to worry about hitting your cap on your power supply. This power supply can easily provide power for a high-end system running 1 graphics card and will only start to hit it's limit when using SLI / multiple Graphics cards with high core count CPUs and a lot of storage drives. Size - For a ATX (standard form factor) power supply It Is on the smaller size. This means you will have more room for routing your cables and keeping them tidy. I would recommend this to people who have cases with small compartments for their ATX (standard form factor) power supplies as It would give them the greatest amount of room barring a SFX (small form factor) power supply. Cons: Cables - The cables that come with the power supply are adequate they are well made and sturdy. However for people wanting to have a good looking computer they do not look the best with very visible heat shrink tubing on certain cables as well as cable sleeving that could be extended to made the wiring look nicer. Untested: Power Efficiency - at the currant time of writing this review I have not fully tested the efficiency of the power supply however from general use it seems to be good. Conclusion: All In all it is a great power supply with high quality features that should be sought out if looking at power supplys . Purchased this to replace a 7.5 year old Thermaltake that was apparently causing the PC to spontaneously reboot. Bought Seasonic on the brand's reputation and from what I can see this seems to be a well-made power supply with a more than adequate selection of cables that were more than long enough, even when routing them behind the motherboard tray. If anything it's possible I could have done with a couple of shorter cables. I've noticed no sound from the power supply, even while gaming, although to be fair at such times I may be more focused on the game. But in normal operation, completely silent. ... show more
