  • Sturdy & Affordable
Color: METALLIC
•Easy to assemble, install and uninstall. •Sturdy quality. •Great fit and adjustable. •Good appearance. •Quality material and design for the $. •So far, so good safety-wise… May replace with higher quality straps than the ones supplied. Not confident they’ll stand the test of time for very long. *Recommend removing when not in use. *Straps do cause water intrusion into vehicle (understandable given the design). ... show more

Once connected to your car, it doesn’t move

  • Seems to be good enough for most requirements.
Color: METALLIC
These racks seem to be good enough for occasional use for kayaks, bikes, etc.. I haven't used them yet but the main complaint I read about is that the rubber pads literally fall off the rail standoffs. A bit of clear Gorilla Glue will solve that permanently. BEFORE you use the glue though, thread the straps through the standoff as you may need access via the opening that the rubber pads cover. I plan a 5 hours drive to the Florida panhandle with two 11' kayaks on these racks and don't anticipate any issues. A bit concerned about the roof paint on the car as the rubber pads are thin. I'll just have to make sure there is NO movement when traveling. ... show more

  • Good racks for the price, simple installation
Color: METALLIC
Good deal. Installing it daily on our lifeguard vehicle is very easy. Sturdy enough to secure two rescue boards. In service for 2 months, so far have not seen any effects from salt air and water.

  • Barely gets the job done
Color: METALLIC
The holes aren't drilled evenly, resulting in the get being a bit lop sided. In addition, no matter how you install the straps through the cab, it leaks horribly in my scion. Instructions are very lacking. It reminds me of the "how to draw an owl" meme. I haven't attempted my 3000 mile drive yet, so I don't know how well it will hold up yet. I'll update with results later. ... show more

  • Could be better
Color: METALLIC
Pros: -It's a universal rack. Very practical and affordable compared to permanent options that require more hardware for your specific vehicle. Cons: -Poor build quality (for the one I got. Your mileage may vary) - it will wear and otherwise permanently damage the weather stripping on your doors if used for any extended length of time -likely to put dents in your roof unless strategically placed -dangly wratchet straps in your headspace Details: Before I start, I'd like to emphasize that this is a very useful and affordable option as far as universal roof racks go. Also I was completely aware of the downside of having wratchet straps in my car's headspace before getting these, and I can't think of how that could be avoided considering the circumstances. That aside, the reason that I didn't give this rack 5 stars is because, 1. the holes drilled in the front rack bar were not properly aligned, resulting in one of the feet always being angled upward unless I crank the ever-loving poopoo out of the strap to suck it down. Even then it's not completely flush with the roof. 2. My package wasn't taped up enough so the screws fell out in-transit. I was able to get some more from my local hardware store, but still annoying. I'm about to take these on a 3000 mile trip with ladders strapped to them, and will update the review if anything breaks or doesn't survive the trip. If this is where the review ends, then they survived and I'm likely still using them. ... show more

  • Gets It Done
I've had this rack for going on a year. It carries my fishing kayak on a Hyundai Elantra and so far has been rock solid. It's true the felt socks want to come off, but I've duct-taped them around and always check to see they're down flat on the roof so that the weight holds them on, and then watch them well when I'm carrying them to put on or take off and put away. They're super easy to put on and take off. Before I assembled them for the first time, I cut two sections of pvc pipe to fit over the rails so that they'll roll the kayak, a borrowed idea. I have a routine for getting the kayak up on the roof. After putting on the rack, I put two old bathroom rugs with their rubberish backs on the hood to keep from scratching the paint, and then lift the nose of the kayak up onto the hood, which is not too high for even an elderly person like me to do it unassisted. From there I get behind and gently and slowly push the kayak up over the windshield onto the first roller. From there it's easy, the boat just rolls back onto the second pipe, and I'm able to bungee-cord it down onto front and rear bumpers, and we're on our way. Taking it off is the reverse except that sometimes one is on a sloped boat ramp and the first time I thought the boat might get away from me and crash down to the concrete. The use of a cart to take it off on flat ground and move it to the ramp is an option, but I've not found that to be necessary. The little speed it picks up just makes it easier to take it off (and the opposite getting it back up again against gravity, but that also has not proven beyond me). This rack makes it possible to turn a sedan into an SUV but with less gas and lower payment. Has made for many pleasant days. ... show more
