  • Thought I Bought New
Sent another brand of clay machine back because I was told Sculpey is a little more expensive, but the best brand. Got it yesterday and was surprised right away because it was not “wrapped” to protect but didn’t have any scratches…all good. Decided to start putting clay through and chose white to start. Big surprise!! Had black streaks all over it! Supposedly it was brand new, and my fault for not checking it first. Just disappointed that if they wanted to send me a used machine, at least make it look new and clean the rollers! I submit reviews all of the time so I don’t complain easily. ... show more

  • Game changing
I’ve been kneading and flattening clay by hand and I run a small business, this little thing changed my life. No joke, my hands would seize up from kneading and I’m 24 y/o. Using this is saving my hands and saving so much time. Thank you so much!

  • It conditions clay but the handle falls out constantly
I use this clay conditioning machine at least once a week. It works well for conditioning the clay. It's not really intended to give perfectly smooth sheets of clay and is just meant to condition the clay before using. The machine pulls in the clay well and spits out the flattened piece underneath. It does leave some lines on the clay and sometimes the clay/color sticks to the roller and will then transfer onto another piece so I clean the roller between colors. My main issue with this machine is that the handle falls out constantly. It should be made to lock in place but it does not and it doesn't even fit in the hole tightly enough. The mechanism to change thickness seems to work okay. The machine is heavy enough that I haven't needed to use the clamp. Overall, this machine conditions the clay well but it's not really user friendly. ... show more

  • Works great
I am a beginner working with clay so my opinion is not from expertise. I can say that this product has done everything I've wanted it to do and conditions clay well....a lot better than I can with my hands. The only complaint I have would be with the crank handle. It falls out easily but even that hasn't been a true hinderance for me. Ultimately I'm glad I purchased it ... show more

  • How does anyone clean this thing?
I am so relieved I finally bought one of these for my polymer clay- but my only question is how does anyone clean these? It’s sturdy. It’s durable. It’s all the things it asks you to review and give stars about. When I leave three stars, I do feel it’s a product I would recommend and a product that I myself would purchase a second time around. But this item is impossible to clean. I’m not a clean freak by any means- but the clay gets jammed up in the revolving gears. Once you’re using a different colored clay, this becomes problematic because it mixes, and is then smashed into the new clay color you’re using. I wish there was a way to pop the rotating parts out, and wipe them and the area around them down. Right now, I’ve taken to running it under hot water with soap, and then scraping it with a wooden clay tool which makes a pretty awful sound. I’m also concerned it will warp the machine itself. Maybe I skipped over the instructions? But - that would be my only complaint. I have never bought anything like this previously, so I’m uncertain if all of these types of machines are like this or not. It just seems like the area that gunks up, builds up, and collects all that extra clay should be easier to clean out. ... show more

  • Stiff, squeaky, broke quickly
The media could not be loaded. The bad: The cover to the width selector broke off on day one using this. I'm on day 3 and the squeaking & stiffness is getting progressively worse. Even after clay is warmed up and worked there are pressure streaks in it. At the two smallest widths (8 & 9) my clay is coming out split, tearing, & bubbly. The good: I've noticed less color transfer between switching clay colors on this machine vs my old (and completely broken) machine of a different brand. This has more width selections than my previous machine. ... show more

  • good for beginner
It was amazing at first. The clay I bought is very hard, and I can't knead it softly by myself. This pasta machine did help me a lot. But it is really inconvenient to clean, and it is not easy to fix. But overall it is still very decent.

  • For the price its good.
I purchased this for my 10yr old daughter to use for her small clay business. She was able to set it up with no problem. It works well with clay that is not super soft. For example, the Sculpey Accent clay is much harder clay, and we can use this all the way to the smallest setting and still get great results. However, other clays that are softer, you will get the ripple effect once you pass the 3rd or 4th setting. I've found that even when she needs a thinner setting, we will just put the rippled clay between two pieces of wax paper and roll it out with a clay roller on her clay mat. This will smooth out the ripples, while still maintaining thickness setting. The handle for turning is kind of annoying because it always falls off, to the point where the plastic cap on the handle is now cracked. That's how a huge deal, but we've only had this for about 2 weeks now, so as far as longevity, that may be cut close. Cleaning the machine isn't too difficult. My daughter runs a baby wipe through the rollers on the thinnest setting, then turns the machine over and cleans the grips. They usually get caked up with clay. For the price, the machine isn't a bad investment. As far as longevity, it may not be though. Many machines out that are "industrial strength" or made to withstand a long period of wear and tear are a bit more pricey. I think within time, it may be worth purchasing though. ... show more
