Great pen, writes well, good ink control, good weight, groves in grip feel great, clip is sturdy and has lots of pressure. Ink converter screws in so it won’t fall out and is built sturdily. The cap clicks on tight and is very satisfying to use. Finish looks amazing and is very smooth so it won’t scratch like an enamel finish will since it’s stainless steel. Have had a few problems with ink flow but just slightly compressed the piston and began to write smoothly again. To give an idea I have had this pen for three weeks and have already written a lot with it (refilled it twice) and have only had to do this once on my second or third day using it to fix the flow. ... show more

    • Pen is light. Cap is heavy and does not post. Looks Pretty and Writes Smooth

So the pen without the cap is 17 grams (with an included small ink refill) and the cap alone is 15 grams, which means if you are going to write for a bit then you won't want to post the cap, and then the pen is a little too short for my hand. Less than 5 inches tip to back. They must have anticipated that you won't be posting the cap because, while it snaps onto the front of the pen with a satisfying click, it really just rests on the back and falls off easily. So plan on writing with a short pen and just hold on to the cap. Then, of course, the pen body feels hollow and less premium. The nib seems great. I got the medium point. It is as wide as I would go, but it's perfectly smooth and satisfying on thicker paper. My only other fountain pen is a Lamy safari and that one feels much better to write with for longer periods. Posted or unposted, the weight is evenly distributed throughout. That one is a 9 g plastic pen without the cap and a 7 g plastic cap for comparison. The weight is distributed nicely with or without the cap, and the cap actually stays posted. Though, it definitely doesn't look as fancy. All in all, I think it's an okay value at the $48 I payed. I'll use it, and it looks nice on my desk. But I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Based on all the rave reviews I expected it to feel a little more balanced and a little more premium. It feels like a Chinese knockoff of something really nice. Incidentally, it does say: Designed in England / Made in China on the box, so I guess it isn't hiding that. There are a lot of fountain pen options out there and this one is just okay. If it doesn't need to be pretty, and you want something to just enjoy the writing experience with, go with a Lamy Safari. Update: One week later... I love this thing. Everything I said above holds true, and yet somehow this is always the pen I reach for first. It's beautiful and it writes well. The short length doesn't bother me as much as it did initially, and the medium nib that seemed slightly too wide for me at first now just feels right. I'm upping my review from 4 to 5 stars. Beautiful craftsmanship and feels really solid in your hand. Writes very smoothly and flawless. Customer service is superb and replies to questions pretty much immediately. A really great fountain pen which I am sure will last a lifetime. You get a 3 year warranty with it as well, which speaks highly of the seller who stands behind their products. Will be buying another one for my brother as he loves to journal and I am sure he will appreciate this fountain pen for its superb quality. Can't go wrong with this one. ... show more

I’ve been buying and using fountain pens for over 40 years and this one is my favorite, hands down. First of all, the craftsmanship is flawless and beautiful. Secondly, from the second I pulled it out of the box and started writing, it was smooth and just glided across the paper. Third, it has good weight. I don’t like light, thin, and flimsy pens. I need something that fits firmly in my hands and feels like a substantial piece. And finally, the price…UNBELIEVABLE! How they can sell such an awesome product at this price? Not a better deal out there. I will never buy another brand of fountain pen again and I’m sorry it took me so long to find this one. I purchased this as a gift who sold her very first home to me in her budding real estate career. I wanted her to have a good business pen and I went a local pen store to also buy her a beutiful blue Ink called Sailor Ink that really seemed to flow through the pen incredibly well. The man at the pen shop was so impressed that he logged onto Amazon and was planning to buy one for himself and even inquire into getting the brand as a product for them to carry. Yes, I took the pen for a few spins to make sure I liked it, and I have to say the weight was nice and the writing came out quite incredible. It is sad to note that the pen is UK designed, but farmed out for manufacturing to China. I did not see that when I ordered it and found something to cover up the obnoxious "Made in China" label that ruined the look of the box. UK pen made in China really makes the pen seem not quite so nice. I would also love to see some more creative pen bodies to go with these pens. I did buy another pen from a local pen maker myself on the day I purchased the ink for this pen, however I will be going back and researching this brand for my own personal use the next time I am ready to add yet another pen to my collection. I highly recommend this pen as a gift because it is quality and does make a statement (once the Made in China is covered). I also remommend this for personal use. ... show more

Quite nice for the price. Fine nib is a bit scratchy. Nice weight and balance, beautiful appearance much beyond the price point. Like that the cap clicks solidly into place when capping. Easier than a screw cap for office work with intermittent writing. Only real issue is that the nib section slowly works itself unscrewed in use by a right-handed user. ... show more
