  • **Versatile and User-Friendly: A Solid Choice for Students and Beyond**
I recently received the NEWYES Scientific Calculator designed for middle and high school students, and I must say, it’s a fantastic tool that goes beyond just basic calculations. This calculator stands out with its 401 computing functions, including everything from fractions and complex number calculations to linear regression and standard deviation, making it an essential tool for any student or professional who needs a reliable mathematical resource. The two-line display is a significant advantage, as it shows both the entry and the calculated result simultaneously. This feature makes it easier to track calculations and correct any errors in real time, a helpful factor during exams or while working through complex problems. The overall design is thoughtful, with a dust-proof cover that not only keeps the calculator clean when not in use but also slides onto the back during operation to ensure it doesn't get lost. The calculator is powered by both solar energy and a replaceable button battery, ensuring long-term usability without frequent battery changes. This dual-power functionality is perfect for extended study sessions or when working in varied lighting conditions. The keys are made from premium plastic, which provides a more tactile response compared to silicone keys, contributing to a more satisfying and precise user experience. Moreover, this calculator is not only a tool for academic purposes but also a practical accessory for professional settings where quick and accurate calculations are necessary. Its portability and protective cover make it easy to carry in a backpack or briefcase without worrying about damage. In terms of user experience, the calculator performs exceptionally well under different lighting conditions, thanks to its solar panel. However, it should be noted that while the solar function is robust, it performs best under direct, strong light. Overall, the NEWYES Scientific Calculator is a well-rounded tool that offers great functionality, ease of use, and durability, making it a valuable investment for students and professionals alike. Whether tackling high school math, preparing for college entrance exams, or handling professional calculations, this calculator is up to the task. ... show more

  • Great value scientific calculator
The cover of this calculator is a little tight and difficulty to remove and replace, however for the price this is an excellent starter scientific calculator that has come in handy for middle school math and algebra. At this price point, I feel better about letting my son take this to school in his backpack. ... show more

  • Scientific calculator
This pretty little calculator comes with a sturdy cover. It works great. The only thing is that it doesn't have some features making certain mathematic equations compute as smoothly as with more expensive calculators but otherwise it's great. Worth the money.

  • Does More than My 1983 Calculator and Only Cost $13!
I’ve been using a Sharp pocket-sized calculator for quite a few years until I realized it’s dated 1983 and is considered an antique. Mind you, I paid $20 for it back in 83 (about $60 today) and all it does is add, subtract, multiply and divide. Now I have this calculator that seems to do everything I didn’t learn in school, and then some. Chances are I’ll never use all the functions but I’m sure somebody will down the line. Construction is top notch and the overall design seems to remind me of TI multi-functions calcs from the past. Also appreciate the protective cover! A short while ago I got a calculator, from a different maker, that purported to be solar but was not (they were faking it with an internal battery). So, on this one I removed the internal battery to test the solar panel. In short, in works, although you must have a good amount of light to keep it active. Under the direct light of my LED desk lamp it stayed on and worked, but if I went to the right or left of the direct light, it would flicker and go off; however, that is why it does come with an internal battery. And all this for roughly $7 less than I paid for a basic calculator in the 80s? What a deal. ... show more

  • CVuPlay - Clear big numbers and soft responsive buttons
This is a really good scientific calculator. The buttons only require a very soft touch but they are responsive. It contains all the functions I expect from a scientific calculator. It's nearly instantaneous at solving functions. The display is OK. The larger number is appreciated to make it easier to see the answer. The upper function entry row has more detail to better represent the equations you enter. The LCD display could be a little nicer though. Even when I am viewing the display straight on, I can still see the underlying dot matrix patterns. On my Casio calculator, I can only barely see the underlying dot matrix pattern. The solar panel will make it so I don't have to worry about replacing the battery even though there is a battery compartment on the back. ... show more

  • Very Nice Scientific Calculator
It is easy to turn this calculator on. There's an ON button in the upper right. But, how do you turn it off? The instructions do not tell you how to turn it off. After a while, I figured out that you can turn it off by pressing the SHIFT button and the AC button. Otherwise, it is a very nice calculator. The calculator slips into a plastic case the covers the buttons when not in use, and holds the calculator with the buttons facing outward otherwise. There are some shortcuts on the underside of the cover. It is powered by batteries and a built-in solar panel. The display has two lines with many digits. It is a nice compact size. It is accepted for admissions tests like the SAT, as it can't be used to cheat. (My mother was an award winning math teacher who compiled the calculator memory clear sequences for all calculators and tried to get calculators to standardize them. She was a consultant to the College Board, TI and other calculator manufacturers. So, there were always sample calculators in the house and she sometimes used me to test them.) Good value for the money. ... show more
