I made the mistake of using a rake and spreading and leveling dirt by hand and I will say this is absolutely worth the investment! Worked better than I even expected, took half the time at least than doing it by hand, and did a better job leveling than a rake could do.     • Not very sturdy
This gets the job done, but it's not very robust. The area where the shaft secures to the base / leveling area bends under not much pressure. If you apply a little pressure with one side of the level more elevated than the far side, the metal where the shaft and level head bend fairly easily. I had to bend it back a bit during my first use. I suspect this is less of an issue with the smaller models (I have the 7ft) but it's something to consider. I doubt it'll last a long time based off leveling off my 1k sq ft back yard. ... show more

Not sure if I got a defective ones, but the polls should slide in each other and mine do not. Also, if you look at other reviews, it shows photos of different rakes from the one they are selling.

The leveling area of this unit is pretty small but it works good for leveling a lawn with new dirt to prepare for overseeding. The biggest problem is that the handle screws together is several places -- great for saving space but it already broke where the threads are. I took that section out and it was still usable for a few minutes and then it snapped in another spot. I am not going full force either, it seems to be a design flaw where the metal is thin at the threads. Unfortunately, it looks like the return window is only 30 days and a surgery prevented me from using it until the last couple days and now I am stuck with a broken tool. :-( ... show more
