  • Loose Lids
I really liked the colors of these glazes. But if you know ceramic glazes they don’t look the same after firing. These glazes came with just names on the jars no pictures of how they will look. This leaky one is called Oriental Caramel. But with no sample or color sheet I’m left to guess which of their photos is the end product. Also two jars had loose lids. This one obviously leaked. Not a lot but still…a bit disappointing. I have tried other glazes by this company and they fired quite beautifully but with names like Oriental Caramel, Poppy Fields and Peacock Eyes I’m unsure of what they will be. Wish I would have read the reviews about consistently loose lids and wish I hadn’t needed them so quickly so I could have exchanged for a new set. Probably won’t buy again. ... show more

  • If you want the results shown in the pic you have to fire higher than the instructions tell you
EDIT- I'm raising my review from 1 star to 3 because after doing some more experimenting I discovered that firing these at higher temperatures makes them look more like the photo in the listing. I read on the manufacturer's website that they could be fired up to cone 6 (not 06, but 6), which is not mentioned anywhere on the product page or in the instructions. So I gave it a try and they look a lot better, the crystals melted into a more "runny" pattern at the higher temperature. I've attached a photo (the one with the small square tiles) of all of the glazes fired at cone 6. I also attached a photo showing a comparison between 3 of the colors fired at cone 06 (small pots on right) versus 6 (small tiles on left). To get the best results- mix the glazes using a stir stick to get the crystals off the bottom. Put the lid on tightly and shake hard before applying each coat. Store the containers top down so the crystals settle to the top instead of bottom. Apply 3 heavy coats on bisqueware, I daub them on rather than brush them. Stilt and fire at cone 6. I do like the colors I'm getting now but only giving 3 stars because of the lack of proper instructions and the fact that some of the colors still don't match even firing at cone 6. Previous review below: These glazes look nothing at all like the picture on Amazon. I followed the instructions exactly- I bisque fired to cone 04 and then applied three layers of the glazes making sure that they were well mixed and that I was getting crystals from the bottom of the containers. I glaze fired at cone 06. You can clearly see in the picture that the results look radically different than the photo on Amazon. They do not have the beautiful flowing colors they are supposed to, they just have little pepper-sized flecks of color. Extremely disappointed in this, will probably return them. Also as others have reported I did not receive all the listed colors. Instead of “desert dust” and “lily jade” I got “herb garden” and “poppy fields”. That wouldn’t be a big deal if they looked nice, but they don’t. ... show more

  • Decent Glazes
I read previous reviews and also looked these up by googling them and found that some are transparent, semi-transparent, opaque, etc. Would post the chart I found but now can't find it again. I did write each thing on each glaze jar though so I would know in the future. I didn't like that there wasn't a chart guide and that I have to come back here and look at one of the reviewers chart they made to figure out what color is what. I've posted a few pictures of 3 coats of the semi transparent or transparent glazes, the coaster is northern lights. I took the advice of the reviewer that mentioned firing them higher and these are done at cone 6. I tried to get as many crystals as I could on them (shook each jar vigorously to mix everything). I tried not to get the crystals on the edges as I read they could run, I didn't have any running. I will try to post more pictures as I do more pieces using these glazes as I find it very helpful to others to see a finish product. The yellow bowl is just an amaco celadon. ... show more

  • Every thing came quick and as expected.
Seems like a great product. Good deal all that. It's just that one of the JARS came open and about half the contents splooged all over the inside of the box. I didnt want to send the whole package back ...so I just kept it. Other than that, it seems like a lot for what I played for! I cant wait to see how this stuf looks on clay! ... show more
