I have this installed on a PCS with a 36" fence. I installed it when the saw was new, right out of the box, which IMHO is the only sensible way for one person to install it. It's a bit fiddly, but not difficult. The parts are of excellent quality, and the instructions are straightforward. Once in use, it is fabulous! It easily lifts the entire saw and side table assembly, and moves smoothly to change location. It's pricey, and worth every penny. ... show more

For a really awesome saw - this base is disappointing, really complicated to assemble, if you get it wrong you have to take the whole saw apart to fix it.

    • Excellent instructions!
I found it difficult to "see" underneath the saw even with my portable light I think it's because everything is gloss black. But, the install went smoothly and the portable base works great!

    • Expensive, but worth it.
I read another review that almost scared me away - it claimed these wheels were flimsy and unstable. I totally disagree. Yes, these are rather expensive. But, after trying to move my saw with sliders, help from friends, etc., I gave in. My saw now floats across my concrete shop with one hand. Very sturdy, the hardware is well thought out and the instructions were clear. No, these are not, "all terrain" tires and will struggle over rocks, gravel, etc. I suppose if you have heavy grout lines or cracks/grooves in the floor, it might hang up a bit. I'd guess that 90%+ of people who own a $3500 PCS SawStop have decent floors. I especially like how when everything is lowered, it rests 100% on the ground, no wheel contact whatsoever. I seriously wonder why this just doesn't come standard with the saw, it's that nice. ... show more

    • Safety made me buy it, and so far I’m very pleased
I replaced a Powermatic 66 cabinet saw that I’ve had for about 20 years. It was a fantastic high quality saw. I decided to purchase the SawStop due to the safety features. I still have all of my digits and as I get older, I’d like to keep it that way. Saw shipped and arrived fairly quickly, in about a week. Assembly took a couple of hours. I needed a bit of help with the extension tables but other than that, it was pretty much me. The instructions are outstanding. Hardware is packaged and numbered and color coded. I’ve only used the saw a few times, but I am not disappointed. It’s quiet and the dust control is very good. Time will tell how well it will last, but all indications so far are it will be a long term investment. I have not activated the brake and hope never to see it happen, but I did purchase a replacement just in case. ... show more

    • Go for the industrial instead
Nice that it's built in, but I'd go with the industrial if I had it to do over again. Two main reasons. First, my garage has an uneven floor and I find this base sometime pops out of locked position and drops the saw as I'm moving it. Not all the time, but sometimes. Second, the industrial base has 4 swivel casters whereas this has 2 fixed + 2 swivel. That makes it hard to maneuver in my small shop. ... show more

    • Unit disengages and slams down on floor
First of all I love my Sawstop PCS. I installed the mobile base with no issues, Once I tested it, it would lift off floor after several attempts to get it to engage and stay off floor, but then I rolled it a few inches and it slammed back down on floor. I attempted to reinstall again thinking I made a mistake but once again it would not engage. Called support at Sawstop and they told me to file off some powder coated paint from a notch. Did that, and it seemed to engage easier but after a test roll on the floor it slammed down. They sent me a new unit and the same thing happened. The folks at Sawstop seem willing to get things right, but with this product there seems to be an engineering issue that causes this problem. I found a work around by engaging the peddle then clamping the 2 peddles together tightly and that enabled it to work, however, after spending over $300 on the unit I figured it should work on it's own so I ended up sending it back. ... show more

    • High quality, nice design, and effective in mobilizing saw
Sawstop is definitely is impressive. All the bolts/parts are laid out in a blister pack, numbered in the order you need to follow the assembly instructions. The manual is easy to follow so assembly went very smoothly. All holes lined up perfectly, paint/finish was flawless on all hardware. When installed, the pedal action easily lifts the saw and then easily drops it back. I got the version with two swivel wheels and two fixed wheels, but it easy to rotate the saw regardless (apparently there is a version of this base with four swivel wheels, which I don't seem to miss now that I rolled the saw around). Very happy with this and the saw of course. Cant go wrong with these guys. ... show more
