  • Wire it "backwards" for a Takamine.
Color: Chrome
I just installed it tonight and though it fits my Takamine like a direct replacement, it didn't work until I reversed the red and white wires. Let me explain... Takamines use a built-in battery-powered preamp that only powers up when you plug a cable into the guitar. That works because guitar cables have a mono plug and the jack (including this jack) is a stereo jack. A mono plug just has the tip and the shaft. A stereo plug has the tip and the shaft is separated into two segments. Normally when you plug a mono plug into a stereo jack, the solid shaft of the plug shorts one of the stereo channels because the two metal contacts in the jack touch the same piece of metal. Takamine (and other guitar manufacturers) use that "short" as a way to turn on the power to the preamp. When the solid shaft touches the two contacts, they complete the circuit and the preamp gets power. What happens in this jack is the lugs are reversed from how they are on the original Takamine jack. That means the preamp won't turn on and there's no signal to the amp. The way my original was wired, the black wire went to the ground (the big metal piece that grips around the guitar's internal cable), the white wire went to the lug on the left and the red wire went to the lug on the right. To make this jack work I had to reverse the red and white wires. Your colors may be different but if it doesn't work at first, just reverse the two wires to the lugs and that should fix it. I haven't gigged with this yet so I can't comment on the durability yet. If it goes bad, I'll come back and edit. I'm typing this on the 31st of July, 2023. If this is an old review by the time you read it and I haven't said it failed yet, that means it's still good. ;) ... show more

  • It works

Haven't installed it yet, but tested it and a jack from another seller with a piezo. This jack held the pin tightly and tapping on the piezo sent the microphone test bar about half way to max. The jack from another seller with the same set up, was loose and tapping on the piezo resulted in little to no response. ... show more

  • Perfect for adding to a classical guitar with an acoustic pickup.
Color: Gold
I have a glued on acoustic pickup with a 1/8" 3.125mm jack and originally had to use a 3.125 mm to 6.35mm (1/4") male to male cable. so i drilled a hole in the bottom of the guitar, drilled a tiny hole next to the glued on pickup and plugged a 1/8" pigtail into the pickup, fed it through the tiny hole and out the hole in the bottom. i soldered the pigtail wires to this product, and then used the three screws ro attach it. the ability to secure this jack using exterior screws was important since i cannot reach the bottom via the sound hole to tighten a nut like some other jack sedigns have. looks grest, dounds grest and now i can use my wireless guitar transmitter receiver set! ... show more

  • Tuning keys for guitar, great quality
Color: Chrome
I had to replace a part on a guitar that I came to rebuild due to someone conjuring all the parts on the guitar. Very Happy Amazon had the parts I needed to rebuild this guitar.

  • It worked.

There are no directions, so dry for the wires before soldering to make sure you have it correctly. Mine seemed to be backward from how it seemed it should have been.

  • It works correctly!
Color: Gold
Read the review that said the jack got stuck when he tried to plug it in and had to remove it with pliers. Well I was a little hesitant to order but I know from experience that sometimes you get a bad part or maybe his jack was not working properly and it got stuck but the one I got works just fine and dandy. Very smooth inserting the jack and also removing it. Feels normal and it works as it should. Would buy again if needed. ... show more

  • Works great. This requires basic soldering skills

Works great. This requires basic soldering skills. Turned an old Fender classical into a classical with piezo pickup. Sounds great, and goad I used this input jack.
