  • Smart for the lazy, like me.
Color: 36 inch
Holds my 17ft flats boat on the sandbar like a champ, the quality and carrying case is very nice. The downside is the cost. It’s very expensive for what it ultimately does, but for the lazy like myself, it works great. I wish the handle floated, and had its own compartment in the case.

  • Barely gets the job done
Color: 18 inch
Go with a bigger one, preferably one with a built in handle, using this detachable handle sucks and I can’t get leverage.

  • Great Anchor for small water craft!
Color: 18 inch
This is a review of the SandShark Lite 18" Sand Anchor. First off…this is an amazing tool for anchoring your light water craft to the shoreline or shallow sandbar! There’s a lot of room for enhancements though: The anchor comes in 2 parts; the shaft and the handle. Although the handle inserts through the islet of the shaft to allow for the turning of the anchor into the sand as a torquing device it could be improved. There is lateral play in the handle when twisting the shaft. I think a better solution would be a cap head screw handle which threads into the shaft allowing a precise fit and no lateral play in the handle when turning. The anchor shaft has a length of 18” which is great for shoreline or an exposed sandbar, but in a sandbar situation where the depth is over a couple feet you might have to dive under to twist the anchor into the sand. A screw-able shaft extension or longer shaft option would be a great enhancement to allow for a deeper water level should that be the case. I had mine anchor in about 3 feet of water and had to put on my mask to dive under to screw the anchor into the sand as my arms could not reach the handle without diving under. Lastly, the anchor is stainless steel which is awesome except for the fact that when submerged it is somewhat hard to see it. I would like to see a powder coating option of say optic yellow or day glow orange for visibility purposes and to ensure you don’t jam your toes into it while walking. Overall…I love this product and would recommend it for the anchorage of any light water craft (Kayak/SUP/Jetski). I used it on my 15’ inflatable Body Glove Crusader SUP to keep it anchored and even with 15-20mph winds and choppy water the anchor held solidly. ... show more

  • It works
Color: 36 inch
Bought the bungee to go with it and it holds our 21 foot boat even on a really rough day it didn't move at all. Does take a little while to get it setup and you'll need help but for beaching a boat it's hard to think of a better anchor.

  • Good, but needs a carrying bag because it's wicked sharp.
Color: 36 inch
Bought this to replace one that I dropped in the ocean. This one is stainless, so hopefully it won't have issues with rust. It's quite a bit bigger than I expected. The description says it's 36", but I guess I didn't really envision what that would look like when I received it. The last sand anchor I had was about half the size and did an excellent job holding my 20' center console, so this one might be overkill. I probably should have bought the smaller one. Also, the auger part is pretty sharp. The last one I had wasn't sharp like this and it worked great, so I'm not convinced it needs to be so sharp. I worry about it banging around in my boat and chipping the gel coat or cutting something/someone. For that reason I wish it had come with a of padded carrying bag or something. Thus 4 stars instead of 5. Lastly, if you use this at the beach you should consider getting the elastic bungee anchor line along with 100' or so of regular anchor line. To use the anchor I usually drop my fluke anchor off the bow and then attach the bungee to the stern followed by the anchor line that gets tied to this sand anchor. Screw the anchor into the beach a decent distance and pull the line until taught; you want the bungee to be extended, but not so much that it can't stretch. Now you have the bow of the boat anchored facing toward the waves and the stern anchored in the beach. The bungee absorbs the shock from the waves that try to pull out the sand anchor. ... show more

  • Not strong enough for 21' bowrider
Color: 18 inch
We tried it with our 21' crownline at the sand bar in Lake Havasu. No dice. Seems like a great design but this just pulled right out of the sand/water. It may have worked better if it had larger blades (more and wider - for better and deeper grip). Maybe the sand was just too loose or the current too strong in our case??? Nice quality product and easy to use - and probably great for a much smaller boat with far less weight to hold. We had to return it (because it was useless for US). We ended up with the Extreme Max 3006.6817 Self-Hammering Beach Spike Anchor instead which has worked well. Substantially heavier than this Sand Shark, but... it's an anchor so, that makes sense, right? FYI: At the sandbar we use both the Beach Spike (off the stern) and the WindRider Boat Anchor (off the bow). But for regular anchoring off shore we just use the WindRider alone (off the bow) without issue. Happy Boating Y'all! • Finally something that works on sand bars!
Color: 18 inch
I kayak a lot and on sand bars or shallow water with fast currents, my grapnel style anchor never held my boat in place. It would always drift. I decided to give this anchor a shot and it is fantastic! Easy to auger into the sand, holds my kayak along with my friend's yak in place, and is really high quality. I recently capsized my kayak and lost the straight bar portion of the anchor and when I contacted Sand Shark, the offered to ship me one free of charge. I am very happy with this purchase. I was fully aware how long the anchor was when I purchased so I do not see any sense in deducting stars based on you may get a bit wet using the anchor if the tide comes in. It is wonderful for any shallow sandy areas or even the beach as the tide is coming in. This thing is great and is built to last forever. ... show more
