So much easier to work with than those plastic pins and the thin wire ones. These hold good!! I have an area that has gravel that has sank into the ground, pushed right threw without breaking like the plastic ones. These cost a bit more than other heavy-duty options, but these are actually heavy duty. I was able to hammer them into 3/4 gravel and only had one bend out of the bunch. They're basically large nails with a spiral on the top (though not as heavy duty as an actual nail).
