  • Love this watch!!!!
So as many of you, I research the heck out of a product that I am going to drop some cash on. In doing so there are many choices out there for a watch such as this one. I found that there are some that don't offer great options. I think that there are some that work well if you like the IOS side of things. I understand that this watch works well with an IOS phone but don't know that for sure. All that said, this is a great watch. You can feel the quality when you hold it, work with it, and wear it on your arm. Before I begin sharing, I have to say that I love this watch! It is a very nice watch, doesn't seem like Samsung scrimped on quality with this one. Would I buy it again? You bet I would! Well worth the money. I own 14 watches and since purchasing this one, I have not worn any of the others. It has met all my expectations. I wish it came in a black finish but that is minor. Things I like about it... I like the fact that if I have to I can answer texts and phone calls on it. My emails are quick and easy to read. You do have to have your phone near by if you don't get the LTE version. Not a big deal really, I usually have my phone near by anyway. For texting, you have a few options but the easiest for me is the voice to text method. Seems to work very well. Phone calls see to work well too. People I am talking to can't tell that I am talking to my watch. It does a good job filtering out background noise during a phone call. I have answered calls in a noisy room with kids and adults talking over a TV and my wife couldn't tell anyone was around me. Battery life is great. I have had the watch now for a few weeks and it has never gone dead. I usually throw it on the charger to top it off when I shower. I know, it is water proof but in my mind, I don't need to take it in the shower. I don't mind the watch band it comes with and use it when I go to the gym but I have purchased another nicer band and will probably get a couple more. I love watches and changing the band isn't that hard. I also like that there are some ways you can customize it to match your tastes. I had never thought of that before with a watch other than changing a band. I love the hundreds of different faces you can get. Many of them are free. It's hard to decide sometimes which one you would like to choose from. I was a little concerned about the thickness of the watch. Pictures on line made it look really thick but it's not bad. I have the 46mm and it doesn't look too big on my arm. Seems to be the perfect weight on my arm as well. Some people say that they have replaced their cell phone for their watch. I use my cell phone for much more than I could on my watch. I am not sure how you would do that but I guess if you don't use your phone for almost everything, then you could do that. It is nice that I can for the most part leave my phone in my pocket though. Bixby, Hummm. Not Samsung's greatest move. I wish I could remove it from my phone and my watch. What a waste of space and effort. For me the Google Assistant would have been a better option. At least it would have been better to have given you an option as to what assistant you wanted to install or use. Bixby is a pain and wish Samsung would give up on it. All in all, it is a great watch. I love it and am very happy with my purchase. If you are debating on getting it or saying that you will wait on a different one to come out? Well I guess it's up to you. I would suggest this one over the others I have looked at. I feel it's a great quality watch that does a great job doing what it's supposed to do. I am thinking about getting the 42mm in Rose Gold for my wife. She has a Fit Bit in a small version. I think she would love the functionality of the Samsung Galaxy 42mm. ... show more

  • Fantastic Watch With a Few Minor Caveats
I waited a few weeks before writing this review having ample time to write my thoughts about my experience with the Samsung Galaxy Watch. I'll breakdown the review into multiple key points and share my thoughts and experiences and shortcomings if any. 1.)Battery - Probably the most important thing everyone wants to know about before making their purchase! As always your mileage will vary here based off of multiple factors like: notifications how many received and how often updates are pushed, screen brightness, if you use always on display or not, GPS etc the list really goes on. Based off of my personal usage pattern and with the following settings: out of the box default, 4-5 on screen brightness, a healthy amount of notifications from Hangouts, WhatsApp, text, Gmail, Allo etc, workouts with GPS/an exercise selected. I found myself charging every 2.5-3 days and I generally charge my watch once it hits 15-20% battery life so I could possibly squeeze another half to full day! I give the battery life a rating of 8/10. 2.) Durability - So far with working out at the gym, daily life and sleeping with the device I do not see any scratches or visible marks on the body of the watch the clasp has a small scratch only visible in direct light so no big deal. As for the display while I'm sure it's durable I opted for a tempered glass protector as I am OCD about seeing scratches of any kind on my displays. But so far I would say the Galaxy Watch is extremely durable 10/10! 3.) Software - I personally am not too fond of Tizen OS and am particularly and not fond of Bixby especially when compared to Google Assistant. I used to take Google Assistant for granted but after using Bixby a few times I find myself with a new found appreciate for my Google Assistant. The voice to text is noticeably slower, more words are missed, everything you ask of Bixby seems to be slower and Bixby cannot do as much at this time. Hopefully this will improve with time! I highly doubt Bixby will ever reach Google Assistant levels, but hopefully Samsung improves the speed and functionality. The amount of apps pale in comparison to WearOS at this time and doesn't have a lot of the major Android apps that one would want to use. Samsung adds a lot of unnecessary animations that slow things down sadly. Prime offender is when you look at a notification on the watch it takes a few moments before the notification is displayed (just nit picking here not a deal breaker). The fitness tracking is excellent and does a good job of tracking your workouts from calories burned to distance ran/rode etc. Only thing that I notice the software or possibly a hardware limitation? Is when you're tracking your heart rate during high intensity training the watch sometimes has issues keeping up and will take a few moments to display your current heart rate. But overall I would say the heart rate is accurate and comparable to a chest strap monitor under regular usage and non high intensity workouts. But overall the Galaxy Watch does offer a pleasant software experience 7/10. 4.) Aesthetics - I have the 46mm version and "gorgeous" is an understatement here. Even with the default silicone band the watch looks fantastic and exudes class. The larger form factor, the teeth on the rotating bezel, the satisfying clicking the rotating bezel makes and the markings in the inner bezel further compliment the elegance factor of the watch. Also how the silver contrasts with the darker colors perfectly. Even the home and back button add to the overall beauty of this watch! Samsung seems to understand if it's not broken don't fix it when it comes to aesthetics. A way to summarize is "beauty in simplicity" 10/10! If you're looking for a fantastic watch with solid performance and a solid software experience your search is over! At this point you should be adding this watch to your cart and hitting buy! If you're still on the wall and want to give Wear OS another chance with the recent overall and the "new" processor and hardware and can afford to wait another month or so I'd say wait to see some reviews. I personally don't have hope in the Qualcomm 3100 and the coprocessor since the 3100 is an old CPU from 2015 w/ the Adreno 304 GPU (the same one in the Qualcomm 2100 that powers the majority of Wear OS devices). To me it seems as the 3100 + coprocessor was made to appease the fashion brands with the new and improved always on watch displays to make them look "prettier". It's understandable since the fashion brands essentially have been keeping Wear OS alive. I'm always for competition so I hope Qualcomm steps up their game and innovate and build an entire SoC from the ground up vs using some rehashed archaic SoC that is years old. Thanks for reading and hope this helps you with your purchase decision! ... show more
