  • The Best fire starters!
Size: 144 Count
I have tried so many fire starters and these little squares are amazing. They are long and hot burning and get things going. They are also very affordable!

  • Great product! I don't even bother with paper anymore.
Size: 144 Count
These things light up instantly with even a passing flame and burn steady and bright for long enough to get your fire going with ease. I don't even bother putting paper in there anymore, just small 0.5-inch pieces of kindling leading into the bigger 2-inch pieces. Good product, good price.

  • The Best Fire Starter Squares
Size: 144 Count
When I like a product, I just have to review it! I'll keep this short, but to the point. I heat with wood here on the farm, so I start a fire every morning for about 240 days out of the year. I have standardized on using a "fire starting square" to start my fires. They are fast, clean, and inexpensive - I've been using them for years now. No more crumpled up newspaper for me any more. The Rutland brand lights quickly and burns the hottest/longest. Besides tree farming I am an engineer, so I like to analyse things. The Rutland brand is the heaviest one at the best price point. A box of 144 weighs almost 5 lbs. Others weight just under 4 lbs and one brand weights just under 3 lbs. What you are buying is paraffin with wood/wood fibers. The amount of heat and burn time in each square is directly proportional to the weight of the combustible materials. So Rutland delivers the best results and is the best value. There is another brand that weighs a bit more, but the price is 50% higher and not a good value because of that. If you get the Rutland brand you will be getting the best fire starter square for the money. 5 stars easily. Would I buy again - yes, I've been buying them for years now! ;-) ... show more

  • Work great to manually start pellet stove
Size: 144 Count
These work great to manually start a pellet stove. I was a bit unsure after the first few tries because they do take a few minutes to get to a full burn, so the pellets accumulating around them almost snuffed them out. I found they work much better for pellets if I gently split apart the top ends a bit with a screwdriver or knife (the rough side you light). That extra surface area allows them to ignite much faster, reliably starting the pellets every time! I also only gently bend the two pieces roughly 90 degrees but keep them together so they can stand upright in the pellet pot. I bought a second box to have on hand. ... show more

  • Best fire starter for our wood stove!
Size: 144 Count
We have bought several boxes of this in the last couple years to use for starting fires in our wood stove to heat our house. It does take sometimes 3-4 squares to start. If you just use 1 chances are it’ll be out in 10 minutes. More cost efficient though than the fire starter logs.

  • Works Great
Size: 24 Count
First time trying this product, went camping with my son this weekend and tried it out. Just used 1 square for each fire and worked great, lit up well after holding a flame to it for just a couple seconds. We like to use a ferro rod for the fun of it when we have time but this is nice for early cold mornings when you just want to get a fire going to warm people up and cook some breakfast. Or after a long day of activities and want to cook some lunch or dinner without the bush craft fire starting method. The box itself will last a while with 24 squares and I’ll order more to keep on hand since we go out a lot. Easy, quick, and effective. Recommend! ... show more

  • This is my absolute go to product for keeping warm.
Size: 144 Count
I started burning wood during the cold Pacific Norwest winters a few years ago. I use a wood stove that came with my house. I tried so many different fire starter products. But for the value, ease of use, and results, this is the product to buy. Everybody's wood is different. Types and dryness. Use two squares of these with some smaller dry wood and you will be on your way. Love this product and one box should last you the entire season. Plus, getting the fire going is important and having to start over because it went out sucks. This product will help start your fire. It's then your job to grow it. ... show more
