  • Follow the Directions to the Letter
Color: Sandstone Size: Slide Lid Pattern Name: Storage Shed
I read a number of reviews about this shed before buying and was curious as to how my experience would stack up compared to some other folks. Assembly Time: No, this is not a quick job that you'll knock out in a half hour. If you want it done right -- and you DO want it done right (more on this in a moment) -- you should plan on taking the time to assemble it properly. It took me about 4-5 hours over two sessions to assemble this shed. I was mostly able to do it myself, but there were a few parts where it was good to have a second set of hands. This is especially true when screwing the roof into the walls. Having someone to push down on the roof is ideal, but you can also weight the roof down with a brick to ensure it's being pressed into the correct position. Directions: The directions were excellent and detailed. You should follow them TO THE LETTER. If the directions recommend drilling pilot holes, do it. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble and make the overall job easier. Check and double check the steps before doing them. Alignment: If you follow the directions properly and work slowly to ensure that all the steps are followed, you shouldn't have any alignment problems. Again, follow the directions and double-check your work. You may think that a wall segment is snapped fully into the floor, but until you get down and look, it may not be properly seated. Sturdiness: This is a resin shed with a resin floor. When assembled properly, it appears to keep out water very well. However, if you're looking for something that's going to survive hurricane-force winds, you may want to look elsewhere. The simple fact is that this shed is made of plastic. Fully assembled and with nothing in it, I was able to move the entire shed by myself. If possible, use floor anchors. If you can't use floor anchors, consider weighing the floor inside with pavers in all four corners. Remove snow from the roof in the winter. Overall, I'm pleased with how this shed came out. It seems perfect for our purposes. Assembly can be arduous, so plan time to do it. Then plan to take care of your investment. ... show more

  • Well designed shed and easy to assemble.
Color: Sandstone Size: Slide Lid Pattern Name: Storage Shed
I needed a shed to store my lawn mower and barbecue grill for the winter months. This Rubbermaid shed fit the bill perfectly. I did install a wooden shelf to store my hedge trimmer and leaf blower. The retractable roof is a great feature, it allows easier access to get to the back of the shed. The shed looks nice, and went together in about 3 hours assembling it by myself. The most difficult part was preparing the ground to make it fairly level. I used 16 bags of pea stone to level off my slopped yard. This took almost 6 hours by itself. I tampered the stone to pack it well into the soil. When the ground was close to level I installed the resin floor on top of the pea stone. When the doors and roof are closed the shed is very solid. When you open the doors and retract the roof the side panels get a little wobbly. But I am not too concerned as you are not putting any pressure on the side panels. The floor seems very solid. So far I am happy with this shed. I have another larger 8x8' Rubbermaid shed that is 18 years old and it is still working well. Hopefully this new shed lasts as long as my 18 year old one. ... show more

  • Not too hard for a 76 year old.
Color: Sandstone Size: Slide Lid Pattern Name: Storage Shed
I bought this to free up space in my garage. It is large enough to meet my needs and then some, and the price was in my expectations. Now about the assembly. Saw horse table, side of the garage to angle roof sides when screwing them together, both sets, lots of patience, water, and mechanics stool to sit on. It took me, (yes alone) about 6.5 hours over two days to put it together in 90+ degree heat. I like that the parts were clearly marked and defined. I used paver stone to hold the back roof down while I secured it with screws. I also used my rubber mallet (highly recommend) to ensure the walls were locked down. Having a 7.2v cordless drill driver w/adjustable clutch saved a lot of time and energy without overdriving the screws. Didn't have to punch out holes to start the screws. Most of the time the roof will slide without trouble, when it doesn't, I have to lift the back center to slide it back. Had to be creative to gain access to the lock bar through the doors, hence docked one star. Seems sturdy enough. Got my lawn mower, snow blower, shop vac, and few other seldom used items in it. And yes, it has to be on level ground. ... show more

  • Really poor design - top lid will not open without physically lifting
Color: Sandstone Size: Slide Lid Pattern Name: Storage Shed
I bought this slide top shed to replace a 15+ year old Rubbermaid slide top shed that was damaged in a hail storm. Old shed worked great for those 15 years. It consisted of maybe 10 parts total that snapped together very easily. This new shed consists of what feels like 1000 parts, most of them screws. It took a long time, with careful reading of the instructions, to complete. Here are my issues, some of which are comparisons to the previous design: - Base is very flimsy. It requires the building of some form of foundation. The prior slide lid shed had a base that was very sturdy and could be laid straight on the ground. - The front doors cannot be opened without first opening the top. Which would be okay, except... - The top slide lid cannot slide over the bottom slide lid section without being pushed up from the inside of the shed. Seems like an incredibly poor design that the top section hits the bottom section and cannot be moved without physically lifting the top section up over the bottom section. Which is in turn very difficult since you cannot open the front doors without opening the top section! Talk about a catch-22. I have resorted to installing a cheap handle on the front door so have something to pull on to open the front so I lift up the top lid section to push it open. Makes no sense at all. The prior shed design worked very well. It was simple, sturdy, and it worked. This new design is unnecessarily complex (too many parts) and honestly it does not work. ... show more
