I chose this particular mat as it was thicker than other options. Very pleased with the thickness and quality out of the box. It lays fairly flat out of the box. The outside part of the roll is completely flat whereas the inside where it was rolled most tightly is up a bit but I am thinking it will relax over time. I did not notice the smell others noticed. (It is rubber, it has a rubber/oily smell which is expected.) ... show more

I love this stuff. I've used it as a liner in my enclosed trailer, and now in my cargo van (see pics). It lays flat once unrolled for a few minutes, and can easily be cut with heavy duty scissors. I radiused the corners so it doesn't lift, and squared up the edges. Both times I ordered this, it came about 6" longer than ordered, so you have room to square it up. 4x5 ft diamond plate rubber mat. Mat is heavy & good quality (does have a strong rubber smell, but in my application [outside], it doesn't matter). My application is for a short bed pickup bed mat (so needed to custom cut - wheel wells & such). Ended up working great ($40 bucks versus $100-plus for a custom truck mat - every bit as good, if not better). My only issue (and why 4 vs 5 stars), is that the ends are not cut square. They cut this off a large roll (so side to side is uniform [and actually about 48.5" wide], but ends are not cut square). I'd also note they do give you a few extra inches - my piece was 63 inches long, vs 60) - but you will need to trim square if you want it to look good. The heavy rubber is a chore to cut, but with care, a good exacto knife, & a square you can make it plum (and still have an inch or two to play with). ... show more

I don’t know if some people are just ignorant or if they’ve been living under a rock their entire life but this is just as advertised. Anyone who has common sense knows how rubber smells especially when it’s new. It’s normal. Also it doesn’t mean it’s old cause you see the white on the rubber mat. Good price and fast shipped.but if you are needing square edges I can tell you that mine wasn’t cut too square but that’s easy to fix. I used it to cover the uncovered part of the floor in my toy hauler. Came out good. ... show more

Good gracious people for those that complain about the smell, rubber smells, have you ever been in a tire shop? The smell will go away. I have this mat in my garage under and out from my work bench. saves the concrete from stains and works very well. I purchased this mat almost two years ago and it is still going strong. It has all kinds of chemical spills, hot solder, you name it. The mat is holding up great. If you don't like the smell, I suggest purchasing something plastic. I've used this twice, once for a small entryway in a very old house and again in a corner of a modern kitchen. We have a corner of the kitchen that constantly gets dirty because of food prep. This protects the wooden floor and functions the same as any other rubber mat. I love that it's larger than most of the "fatigue" mats being sold, so it fits in difficult spaces. UPDATE 04/01/21: The smell is 90% gone, but it took at least two months. I even tried the trick of pouring vinegar water all over the floor and soaking it, overnight, then mopping it up. I THINK it helped a little, but mostly just cause my nose was picking up vinegar instead of synthetic rubber. Honestly, I wish we had purchased natural rubber instead. We have so much left over, and no one will recycle it, and I HATE adding to the microplastic problem in landfills and our soil and water etc. So, the scraps and extras just sit in our garage taking up space. OG: So, after some mishaps with this product, we finally received it and installed it in our home gym. I can't even work out in it because of the smell. I don't know how my husband can bear it, though he does have a terrible sense of smell. Important to know: --Packaging is awful. The plastic wrapped around the rolled product was all but shredded upon arrival. Thankfully, it was still clipped closed with the plastic ties. --The smell is sickening. I'm not exaggerating... others pointed it out, and they're correct. It's unbearable. I've had the door to the gym closed, the window open and the fan going for about four days now, and I can still smell the rubber outside the closed door, and when I attempt to go inside, I am smacked in the face with the synthetic tire smell. Honestly, I regret buying these. I would have rather had a hard plastic floor. --They are very easy to install and cut like a dream. They're not quite straight cut out of the factory, though, so keep that in mind. We glued them to the cork below it with basic floor glue, but only along the edges and seams. Seems to be holding up. --Pretty easy to clean, depending on what you're trying to get off of it. I doubt oils would come out though. --Heavy weight, but I can't speak to their durability. I guess they're pretty durable considering they were lost in the mail for almost a week and the wrapping was tattered when I got them, but others have said they're not durable. This was the ONLY rubber floor choice (Rubber-Cal brand, I mean) I could find (on Amazon). Lowe's' diamond patterned flooring came in hard plastic tiles, and the reviews on those were worse than these in the realm of ease of installation and color match. We wanted a rubber floor for our gym. However, I really, really wish we hadn't used these. In fact, sitting in the office across from the gym right now, I can smell the rubber.
