Once I got the hang of these and where to put them the job went quickly. I had to retro fit cans without clips to take Spring LED’s. I had to use a pins and then drill pilot holes for these cans. After that they worked great and the lights popped right in. I put the first one about 2 1/2 inches in but then realized I needed the spring to be able to open to get a tight fit. After that I went to about one inch in and they were easier to install and the lights fit better. ... show more

Self tapping screws work well. I installed it ~2-3" up from the lip of the recess cans. Definitely use a right angle impact driver bit to help you not have to get an impact driver into the can. I don't think I would have been able to install it without a right angle impact driver bit.

If you have older cans for ceiling lights, and you want to install newer, spring mounted retrofit style integrated Led lights in them, you will need these. The new(er) cans have these soldered on already, so check first. You need to drill into the can where you want these, positioning height is critical. A word of advice: Screw the mounting screws in using a plain screwdriver, if you use an electric driver, you will probably strip the hole and the screw will not hold. You will need an angle drill, and a stubby screwdriver to fit inside the Can to install these. ... show more

Took these clips and attached them to the original bracket that held the old-school "eyeball" canned lights. Replaced the bracket into the housing and slipped the new LED recessed lights with the V-springs into the bracked - worked like a champ.

    • Solved my retrofit can light problem!

After painting the ceiling in my kitchen my retrofit "can" light would not stay in place. It kept slipping down from the ceiling. I tried a bunch of different solutions and none of them worked until I came across these fantastic little brackets. Installing them was a snap, although drilling holes in the sides of the can light was a pain (even with a 90 degree drill attachment). In any event, once installed, the brackets held the light firmly in place with no "slippage". I strongly recommend these as my next option was calling an electrician to install a whole new fixture. ... show more
