They make no noise below 55 mph - I haven't had them on the hiway yet, but willing to be they make no noise there either. I got these for my Subaru Forester. While I have not used them yet, they appear to be very sturdy. In addition to being less costly than the dealer's option, they also have a locking device to reduce the possibility of theft. In hindsight regarding installation, it probably would have been a lot easier to set the width first before tightening the roof racks to the roof side bars. You see once the bars are in place, I and my friend found it very difficult to get the Allen wrench into the "width adjuster's screw holes"' which are on the underside of the roof rack connector. You'll see what I mean when you try to get the Allen wrench in the holes which are next to impossible to see when the roof rack is in place. Other than that, it was pretty easy to install. I having nothing to compare with these crossbars but have to say they appear to be very well made? The crossbars delivered for my 2019 Crosstrek were the same length. In other words, there wasn’t a separate front and rear crossbar. I couldn’t find a spacing recommendation and installed them evenly 4” from the inside corners. Installation was pretty easy. I like how it grabs the roof rail. The part on top has a nice soft rubber gasket and the bottom is a harder rubber-plastic. I used a mirror to see to tighten the bottom screws. When I did a test drive I think I heard some wind noise - maybe? But, it might be because I was focused to hear something and after awhile doing some errands I forgot all about having the crossbars. So, I think it’s really relatively quiet. I took off one star for packaging. They only come in a thin plastic sleeve. I’d pay an extra dollar for some bubble wrap. ... show more

I will say that I was skeptical about buying these. The price was much lower than I was expecting to pay for the quality. The fit and finish was better than I expected. The bars are very sturdy. The directions were simple and clear, but I didn’t read them (insert a wink here). I do like that they are raised because tightening the bottom screws was very easy. I followed the directions and the installation wasn’t difficult. I like the locking feature and so far there's zero added noise or rattling. They seem sturdy and well built enough to carry what I need. So I’ll update this once I start loading them up.

The Crosstrek's rails tapers slightly towards the rear of the vehicle. I collapsed the rails to its shortest settings but it still doesn't fit. Amazon's sure fit sizing is incorrect in this case. As a seasoned writer with a critical eye, I must say that the crossbars I received for my Subaru Forester were nothing short of disappointing. Despite being advertised as a perfect fit for my vehicle, they simply did not live up to the expectations. First of all, the installation process was a nightmare. The instructions were convoluted and unclear, making it nearly impossible to put the crossbars on correctly. It took several frustrating hours of trial and error to finally get them in place, and even then, they didn't seem to be as secure as they should have been. But the real problem came when I tried to use them. The crossbars were supposed to be able to hold my cargo securely, but they failed to do so. Even with careful packing and tying down, my belongings were still shifting and jostling around on top of my car. It was a nerve-wracking experience, and I couldn't help but feel like the crossbars were going to fail at any moment. ... show more
