The Samyang 24-70mm f/2.8 Auto Focus Zoom Lens for Sony E punches far above its weight, combining premium design, solid build quality, fast and accurate autofocus, and a bright f/2.8 aperture in a sleek weather sealed body, making it a capable zoom worthy of a place in any photographer's bag. Samyang's first AF zoom lens features a parfocal design, enabling it to maintain its focus point as it zooms in or out. This premium feature, often only seen in high grade cinema lenses, not only allows you to compose a shot far more quickly, but also to always have your subject in focus as the framing changes, opening a whole world of storytelling possibilities on video. The impressive optical design incorporates 3 HR elements, 2 aspherical elements, 1 hybrid-aspherical element, and 3 extra-low dispersion elements. Additionally, a UMC Coating has been applied to individual elements to significantly minimize lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality. The lens' LSM (Linear Stepping Motor) autofocus provides quick and precise focusing performance, and manual focus override is also available for more refined control.

Very robust and solid feeling lens. The focus/ aperture ring feels great and smooth. It is a little on the heavier side but not as bad as I thought. Very fast at focusing. Feels just like a native Sony lens. Parfocal is a no go. Great lens. I personally favor this one over the sigma since this is faster at focusing. Update: lens literally broke off while attached to camera mount. Internal build is horrible. Vendor (Adorama) and company have the worst customer service as well and won’t even consider it a defect and are charging to replace it completely. Save your money ... show more

    • A fantastic deal but not so reliable AF
This is a very sharp lens! I've used it for portraits and event coverage. The one thing that lets me down is the Autofocus reliability is sketchy. Sometimes the lens just stops autofocusing randomly or it doesn't keep up with the style of event photography I do. I might upgrade to the GMaster 24-70 version ii in the future for that native AF but if you're on a budget and need a mid range zoom to fill the gap for a while, this is a fantastic lens. Great lens, of course it isn’t a GM lens made by Sony but for less than half the price! This lens is a beast great quality and if you actually know how to use a camera this is all you need for portraits. You get wide angle and a decent zoom at a 2.8 aperture from 24-70. First time that this has happened to me buying a lens. It came defective. When I install the lens and turn on the camera, I can hear some faint clicking sounds coming form either the lens or the camera, then the image comes out all blurry (like in the pictures I'll post with this review). I tried uninstalling and installing the lens but nothing works, it's just defective. Really sad to have this experience with Samyang, never before had a bad experience buying a lens through Amazon. I also attach an image of the lens' connectors, it seems really odd to me, it doesn't look like the correct connectors, and all Sony lens have 10 pins while this one has 12. Used it on a a7iv and thought it was ok. The AF was crazy fast and reliable in photo and video. The lens does display this strange light cast when you’re filming headlights from a car or you’re in a sunny environment. It’s like this light cast which I did not like. It’s a very very heavy and big lens. The zoom ring was very stiff and not smooth at all. The manual focus ring was descent nothing spectacular. Overall it’s an OK lens.
