  • Fantastic Lens
*: Black Style: Sony E
I got this lens as a replacement for the Sony 35mm f/1.8, since I was very disappointed with both sharpness and chromatic aberration. As far as I can tell, the Rokinon is sharper at f/1.2 than the Sony at f/1.8, and chromatic aberration is nearly nonexistent. I have noticed some coma when using the lens for astrophotography, so it would probably be best to stop it down a bit and to use the lens for panorama stitching rather than singular images. The focus ring is smooth and easy to use, although focus is paper thin at f/1.2 due to the incredibly wide aperture. It seems fairly well balanced on my a6000, although perhaps a bit front-heavy. The lens hood doesn't click into place when putting it on the lens backwards, so you may have to keep that in mind for storage. Overall, I have found this lens to be amazing in quality and fun to use at a rather low price for the wide aperture and good sharpness. Focus can be hard to get perfect, so prepare to lose a lot of shots your first time using it, especially if shooting non-stationary objects. However, if you do get focus correct, image quality is excellent. ... show more

  • Best lens I’ve purchased yet?
*: Silver Style: Fuji X
So I’ve had this lens for about a month now and it’s honestly one of my favorite lens to use for fun, and professionally! I’ve compared the lens to Fuji’s 35mm F/2 and there’s barely any difference. Fuji’s 35mm does have some more vibrant colors and provides autofocus but I don’t care too much about that. Because I honestly have found the ability to drop all the way down to F/1.2 incredibly useful! This lens has gotten me into doing night photography and has helped create some beautiful background blur! Is it worth your money? 100%, that’s if you are willing to deal with a manual lens (which isn’t that hard). Check out my photos that I’ve taken with it and judge wether or not you should get one yourself! Note: this MANUAL lens does not provide any autofocus nor image stabilization but honestly I haven’t really missed those features even while filming for weddings. • Sharp, nice bokeh, clicked aperture ring
*: Black Style: Sony E
Love this Rokinon lens on my Sony A6500. It is reasonably sharp across the frame wide open at portrait distances, seriously. Stopped down it is sharp across the frame to infinity. My copy is well centered (which has not been my experience with most other Samyang manufactured lenses I've tried). Small-ish and light for what it is, I love the clicked aperture ring and smooth focusing which has just the right throw for my taste. I don't shoot any video and am simply not buying another lens without a clicked aperture ring. Much sharper than two 35mm 0.95 lenses I also tried and even sharper than a copy of the 35mm 1.8 OSS I had. We'll made and optically excellent, it's possible I won the QC lottery but I'll take it. The only down side is the hood but it's acceptable. I don't really use it much, I usually end up shading the lens with my hand if it needs it. Finally, the lens mounts very smoothly onto my camera which isn't always the case with 3rd party lenses. ... show more

Great lens given this price point, not to mention the wonderful bokeh it manages to produce.

I had trouble at first getting the lens to communicate w/ the camera. This can be fixed by going to user settings and simply turning “camera lens” ON. Also, these lens are manual lens only. NOT AUTO FOCUS LENS Everything is great!

The item is what I expected, but this brings home some small scratches that aesthetically affect it to be a newly purchased item.
