Description

Made just for mirrorless mounts is the new Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS lens. It is available in Canon EF-M, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Sony E and Micro Four Thirds mounts. Its 35mm focal length equivalency for MFT cameras is 24mm, for Canon M cameras it is 19.2mm, and for the other three mounts, 18mm. With an f/2.0 maximum aperture, it is particularly effective in low-light capture and can control shallow depth of field for precise subject focus with pleasing out-of-focus backgrounds. It offers a minimum focus distance of 7.9". The lens’s impressive optical construction consists of three Extra-low Dispersion elements, one aspherical, and one hybrid aspherical element. The nano-crystal coating is applied to the inner surface of the two front-most lens elements to minimize ghosting and flare and improve overall image clarity. The Rokinon 12mm accepts front filters and provides a 67mm diameter thread.

  • Wonderful lens
Wonderful lens, bought a used one here at Amazon. Its a fantastic piece of work given the cheap price. When there is plenty of light just set the aperture to F8 and about everything further away than 1m / 3.3 ft is razor sharp. If you set the aperture at F2 it will cost you some time to focus but you get a lovely bokeh. ... show more

  • Great value and can be sharper than a Fujinon 16-50 XC 3.5-5.6
I have had it less than a week and my test shots show it will meet my needs for landscape and astrophotography. I have included one astrophoto and three test showing center edge and corner sharpness with f-stops. It is great wide open for astro photography, for day landscapes, it is good from f:4 to maybe f:11 before you get some diffraction. If you need more depth of field, you shoot at f:22 knowing it's limitations. Others have compared it to the equivalent Ziess wide open and they felt the Rokinon was sharper. For night photography, infinity was at the stop at the end, so it was easy to set. CHECK OUT MY F-STOP SAMPLES! I will append this if I find anything new. Update: Sorry my samples were reduced by Amazon and did not show the details. After using the lens for a few months, it is a keeper. Some cave photos worked out well, but slower to use than an auto-focus lens, I need to add some DOF marks for my commonly used f-stops, compact size is great for packing into a waterproof case in my pack. ... show more

  • The budget 12mm F2.0 with views that are priceless
First it's a manual lens, so setting up your camera (in my case x-t30 FujiFilm camera) for focus assist is a must. (ALSO another note: at least in FujiFilm cameras, you need to set a setting that makes camera take photo without lens, because there is no electronic communication the camera assumes there is no lens and wont take a photo unless you turn off that setting) However, after that you get into the groove of working with this lens you will get amazing views. This lens being 12mm with a 2.0f stop means you get a wide field of view and with the low f-stop (2.0) your open to astrophotography even in the lowest of lights (without the noise of a high ISO). I haven't tried astrophotography yet however f2.8 was amazing for night photos and because of the low f-stop you always have that flexibility to get more light in before going to your last option of bumping up ISO to crazy noise levels. General purpose, this is indeed a prime lens (fixed to 12mm) so you will get a lens curve in image however in post you can crop or correct for it, and since you get a lot more of the scene you actually have to consider subject matter on taking the photo, but its more of a mindset change than anything else and its definitely a good trade-off to be able to have the capability to do good low light photos as well. I pretty much take landscape, nature (will be trying more on night and low light now I got this lens) definitely a good lens to at least have in your bag, although I am a heavy budget guy so this manual lens with its ultra-wide 12mm and low light capabilities of f2.0 is definitely my main lens for now and worth it for people who want a budget way to get into astrophotography, and low light photos besides the standard day time photos. ... show more

  • Fantastic value for money - if you enjoy the very wide angle of view
I was surprised at how well made this lens feels in spite of the low price, and I don't mind the manual focus - zone focusing works great on this kind of wide lens provided that you don't shoot it wide open ("focus peaking" on the Fuji X is also a great help if needed). The 12mm angle of view makes for some interesting effects (not necessarily "realistic" if that is what you're going for) as you will get quite a bit of distortion due to the wide angle of view, especially for objects located towards the edges of the frame. Additionally, the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 is able to focus very close but then you need to choose your motifs carefully if the wide angle distortion bothers you. I was mostly considering to use this lens for landscapes, but found that it actually gives a bit too much distance for my taste. I might try some astro-photography with it later on since I read it is great for that purpose. Personally I seem to prefer 16mm as a general purpose walk-around lens for my Fuji X-T2, but this Rokinon is a fantastic lens so it's only a matter of focal length preference whether or not you should go for it. If you can easily afford it, why not give it a try if you haven't yet explored anything wider than 18mm on an APS-C camera - you might very well find that it opens up for some new picture-making possibilities and creative ideas. ... show more

  • Fantastic
First off, this is a manual focus lens, so don't expect anything different. I LOVE this lens. F2 makes for a fast lens and can even get bokeh on landscape shots. I will say that I got a tremendous deal on this ($217) but had been about to pull the trigger even at $380. Build quality is up to snuff for sure at that price. Attached are some shots I took today out and about and a couple from last week. Fujifilm X-E4, today's shots with Rockwell film recipe from Fujifilm Weekly. Hope that helps ... show more

  • Very good wide angle lens
Needed a super wide angle lens for my Fuji-XT1, to use on a Utah National Park trip. Very happy with this purchase, performs very well given its affordable price range. Once you get used to the manual focus, which isn’t much of an issue for a wide angle lens, you will get very good results. It’s not as sharp as my Fuji lenses, but its also a fraction of the price. A small tip - take your time to attach the lens hood and click into place, otherwise it can rotate and be visible in the shots, or just fall off. ... show more
