  • Premium Components, Solid Build, Easy Assemble & Superior Use
Model Name: PSA1+
The media could not be loaded. I liked the packaging -- notating that there was a quality control sticker - showcasing that they have systems in place to ensure product quality. I also like the instruction manual instructions. It was straightforward and clear. The individual components that made the product were all high quality. Assemble was easy. It took me 10 minutes from knowing nothing to having a fully setup rig. Using the arm is easy and super effective & efficient. What I mean is that it is very stable and silent. The microphone doesn't move UNLESS I move it - and no movement noises. Silent. Highly recommend this item if you're into audio microphone recording. ... show more

  • Surprise!
Model Name: PSA1+
If you told me that I could or should get excited about a friggin microphone arm, you would be crazy! I will caveat this, as this is my first of 1. I have a couple of cheap arms for other things, just not microphones. I DO, however, know quality when I see it. So, I bought the Rode XDM 100 microphone because I plan to start a podcast at some point. I reviewed reviews on about 40+ swing arms and kept arriving at this one, the Rode PSA1+. Let's get this out of the way first. It's one of the more expensive arms, but for the cost difference, the small amount to pay for the upgrade is worth it. The construction is made of high-quality materials. I like that the arm does NOT have a spring on it. Springs tend to make noise when you move them. Rode claims that it is "smooth and silent." I am here to tell you that it is. In addition to the above, I find the following important too: * I have to say that I love the way I can tighten the microphone in place with two opposing and easy-to-use nuts that are formed for your fingers to turn. The XDM 100 is a horse, so it's good to know that once I lock it into place, it will stay put. You don't have to be a powerlifter to crank it down. This brings up another point. * The microphone I have is pretty heavy. I am not sure of the weight. It is slightly lighter than the Rode NT1 5th gen I tried. The arm moved around in all directions, and held it up without fail. I believe it can handle more weight with no problem. * For cable management, four integrated snap-in clamps hold your USB or XLR cable in place, keeping them discrete. The rest is up to you. * The neoprene cover is nice because it dresses up the arm, which is built like any other. There are four bars connected to a pivot point. Two on top. Two on the bottom. It's kind of like a human arm in a sense because of the two bars on the top. Sure, it's a novelty to have the Røde logo on it, but honestly, it looks much nicer than the PSA1, which is basically the same thing without the cover. Okay, $30 for a stupid cover? A little pricey if you ask me, but I am glad I spent the extra $ for it. Shame on you, Røde! * The hardest part about installation was figuring out exactly where to place the base. After that, it only took as long as I needed to twist the screw-on clamp onto my desk and then put the post (at the bottom of the arm) into the hole. DONE. There is no need for instruction because it's just simple to figure out. I don't get super excited over much, but I am more than satisfied with the Røde PS1+. Maybe that's why it has a 4.8 rating over 1,169 customers as of today (6/11/2024) ... show more

  • Quality Product
Model Name: PSA1+
Have had this boom arm for a year and is still holding up very nicely, just as it did out the box. In my opinion there are huge improvement from its predecessor, the PSA1. I currently have a shock mount with a Blue Yeti X attached to it at a flat zero-degree angle. There's absolutely no excess wobble from the desk mount it comes with. And I'm still not getting the slightest bit of squeak or sounds from the springs or mechanisms. One thing a buy should consider would be to make sure the arm is able to clear any obstacles from wherever you plan on setting it up. ... show more

  • Honestly, I'm just annoyed at myself for not picking it up earlier.
Model Name: PSA1+
So, the movement on this arm is ridiculously smooth. It's got this setup that lets you move the mic exactly where you need it, without any of that annoying drooping or drifting I've dealt with before. Moving it around doesn't make any noise at all, thanks to some super clever design with damped springs and a cover that keeps everything quiet. When it comes to staying put, this arm is a rock. It doesn't matter how I position my SM7B it just doesn't move. That stability is something I've been looking for in a studio arm, and the PSA1+ delivers. It feels super secure, which is awesome because I don't have to worry about my mic taking a dive in the middle of a meeting. So yeah, the RØDE PSA1+ is excellent. It's smooth, silent, stable, and just makes everything easier. If you're thinking about getting a new studio arm, seriously, this is the one to go for. ... show more

  • Fantastic boom arm!
Model Name: PSA1+
There is a reason the Rode PSA1 and PSA1+ boom arms have been around for a long time. This mount is fantastic! Solidly built. Set it and it stays in place beautifully. The rod/mount that you attach your shock mount is brilliantly engineered! The turn washer (lack of better term) allows you to lock the boom arm in the right place without overturning/tightening the shock mount and getting it stripped or stuck. It also keeps it in place instead of at an awkward angle. I just wish I had bought this mount sooner and not wasted money on a Gator Frameworks 4000 series. The gatorworks sags and its all plastic and the extension rod will strip get stuck on your shock mounts and will even possible strip the threading. The only thing the gatorworks had that was cool was a "on air light" that turned 3 different colors but after awhile that was a gimmick. Do yourself a a favor and buy either a Rode PSA or PSA1+ boom arm. It is an industry standard and you will enjoy it. ... show more

  • cable management is good, but could be slightly better
Model Name: PSA1+
This is great boom arm. Smooth operation, sturdy, quality build. The clips to hold the microphone cable work well and provides a streamlined look, but if you are using an XLR cable, the XLR connector does not fit thru the microphone attachment point. Instead, the XLR cable runs across the top of arm and has to come off the side of the arm to connect the microphone. So you will need to use a zip-tie to keep the sleek look. Minor annoyance, seems like it should have been engineered to accommodate a larger XLR connector. ... show more
