It's hard to say without lengthy double-blind scientific studies, but this stuff seems to work as advertised. There are a lot of similar options out on the market, but the Rocky Mountain brand seems to work for us and it's reasonably priced.

I've had since my first Xmas a real tree. 36+ trees later I tried this additive to help keep the tree looking fresher longer. The tree has the same length in drooping and "decay" as if I didn't use the additive. I did not see a difference
