Description

The Rockwell F80 is called the Duotech because it’s the first oscillating tool that utilizes two angles to tackle a variety of jobs. Use an end-cut blade and set it at 5 degrees to do some quick cross-cutting, ripping, or plunge- cutting. Or trim doorjambs and cut PVC. Then switch it to 3.4 degrees for cutting metal pipe or clipping nail heads. Swap in the scraper blade and take rust off of bare metal for priming, remove blistered paint, or take care of hardened caulk. Featuring 5x the cutting speed of the previous generation Sonicrafter, with an industry-leading 35 lbs of maximum cutting load force that won’t stall the blade under heavy strain, so you’ll be well equipped for sanding, scraping, grout removal and much more. At only 3.3 lbs, the slim and lightweight design of this tool not only makes it easy to control for detail work but enables it to get into small spaces. Try getting a full-size circular saw behind the toilet or at drywall between bookcases. The F80 Duotech Sonicrafter comes with a lot in this kit: 1-3/8” standard wood blade, 1-3/8” precision wood blade, 1-3/8” bimetal blade, 3-1/8” HSS semicircle blade, flexible scraper, plunge and saw blade, sanding pad, 3 sanding sheets, and a rugged storage case to keep that all together.

  • Great tool, died pretty quickly, but still VERY satisfied!
Style: Oscillating Kit
I've burned through two different Dremel brand multi-tools, and thought I'd try this Rockwell F80. It weighs as much as a small child. The blade lock takes some getting used to, but it's a reliable system that holds the blade very well. I loved the dual oscillation speed lever too, but I think that's the thing that started going bad pretty quickly. The lever would drop out of gear and slide between the two positions, causing the tool to rattle. Anyhow, after moderate use for only 5 months, it totally crapped out. Lucky there's a decent warranty and after a 5 minute conversation with Rockwell they had a new one on its way to me very quickly. We'll see how the new one holds up. I'd recommend it as long as you have large hands and a strong arm to handle this fat, heavy tool. And I was impressed with their customer service. Update after two years... the second one I got from Rockwell also crapped out after 1 1/2 more projects with HARD use. I beat the heck out of these tools because they're so dang versatile. I make deep plunge cuts into ancient and iron-hard 2x4's, cut metal pipes, etc. So I'm not surprised when they fail. If you use them like a gorilla, as I do, that's expected. But this week I spent only 5 minutes on the phone with Rockwell and I expect that my third tool (for the same single purchase price) will be delivered in a few days for only $5 shipping. You can't beat that! Another update - I am sending yet another one back because of the same issue - the transmission lever that changes the oscillation speed crapped out again and rendered the tool useless. I'm just over 3 years so I'm out of warranty but since it's an ongoing issue they said they'd replace it "just one more time." This makes four in four years. So if you buy this tool just figure on buying another one every three years and replacing it for free 2-3-4 times in between. ...And yet ONE MORE update! Now on my fourth tool, it crapped out like the rest. The speed lever failed, and it rattles like a banshee. So now I'm pretty sure that I'll look for another brand since this one is definitely out of warranty. Or I could drop another $160 on a tool that I really do like and keep getting new ones with their warranty. But don't expect the transmission on these things to last. Four failures should be enough to prove that. ... show more

  • Excellent tool
Style: Oscillating Kit
This replaced my 25 year old Fein tool which saw many years of hard use. This new Rockwell accepts all the standard blades and it works! My favorite feature is the new clamping system which does away with keeping track of the 6mm allen wrench. Love it so far, but it's only been tested on one staircase project to date. Pro tip: after a long stint of pressure, let the machine run free awhile afterwards to ensure internal cooling. I take care of my tools so they can take care of me. ... show more

  • How did I ever live without this thing?!
Style: Oscillating Kit
I debated long and hard about getting the F50 or the F80. I've spent the entire 2017 season building all kinds of projects and I have needed an oscillating multi tool a couple of dozen times. I'm on a very limited budget so I've always found a work around. But doing so always made things far harder and take far longer than they would have, had I had this tool. So I decided to bite the bullet and get one. I was going to buy the Harbor Freight/Chicago Electric el cheapo one for $25. But I knew this is a tremendously useful tool and didn't want to degrade the experience by just going for cheap. The Porter Cable solutions sound about as "robust" as the HF/CE solution, so if I was willing to spend the money required to get a Porter Cable, I knew I might as well just buy Rockwell. The F30 was limited, although at a nice price point. The F50 had a lot of recent negative reviews, but sounded like it would probably get the job done. The F80 got such high praise (and basically no substantial negative reviews) that I ponied up the cash. I'm so glad I did! The additional blades and case were wonderful, but the tool is fantastic! I've used older Dremmels for almost 20 years. They are insanely loud compared to the F80. I can't believe how little it vibrates at any speed! It's comfortable and surprisingly light. The first time I used it I was cutting pieces of lath. I used the slowest speed and - while I am a habitual user of hearing protection - it was so quiet I didn't put on the ol' ear muffs. Now I would recommend users always use hearing and eye protection! But I thought it was an interesting data point that it was THAT quiet. I've used this for cutting several times since. It's amazing how precise it is with the 3.4 degree setting! I was shocked at how easily and precisely it can do plunge cuts as well. It helps to score your cut with one of the rigid round blades first if you want to make use of one of the straight blades in the bulk of the cut (the Japanese blade can clear sawdust quickly so you can do deep cuts fast with it - but it doesn't start a plunge with a lot of precision). There are only two reviews that complain about a failure after 3-6 months. The reviews give no details so who knows how "defective product" and/or "operator error" factored in those failures. However this comes with a 3 year warranty so both of those failures would have been covered. ... show more

  • It does what it is supposed to do!!!!!!!!
Style: Oscillating Kit
Lately I have been so DISSATISFIED with many products, that once had a stellar reputation. My old oscillation tool came up missing; stolen or lost, I don't know but I needed it replaced and the brand of my old tool was made on Germany but the same tool today is made in China, so I went to the ratings that other people gave for a replacement and Rockwell got a good rating. I do recommend, if you have the extra bucks to get the F80, I don't think that you will be disappointed. It has a 10ft. ( yes, TEN FOOT ) cord and a nice hard plastic case with storage compartments and with 4.2 amp motor, plenty of power, as I only use these tools as a saw and this F80 cuts very well , as I had to make a 7foot cut in 3/8 plywood; If I have to find a downside to this tool it would be the manual, the box gave me more information then the manual, so pay attention to the box and don't just throw it away. As I get to use it more, if I come up with a few downsides, I will write a new review------Aug 2021, about a year later and I can find no faults with this tool and the more I use it the more uses I find for it, it has more uses than a magician has for his wand!!! ... show more

  • A must have tool.
Style: Oscillating Kit
So this is the 2nd Rockwell I’ve owned. And no fault of the tool. This is a great all around cutter sander. Gets in the hardest of places. Good blades aren’t cheap. But cheap blades won’t last.
