  • strong circuit board material, ill conceived layout
I have mixed feelings about this chassis. On one hand, it's made from thin and strong fiberglass circuit board material, and it's got a lot of pre-drilled slots and holes for mounting controllers and sensors to it. You CAN fit both an Arduino and a full sized Raspberry Pi computer. There are all sorts of screw holes and slots to mount other devices and sensors, but aside from a set of holes for a pan/tilt assembly, and a couple holes for some IR sensors, I can't think of anything else that matches. Except that it has the crossed slots for a photo interrupter module for a slotted wheel tachometer--But no mounting hole(s) drilled for it. Also the crossed slots are completely blocked if you install an Arduino in its position, and crowd the Raspberry Pi mounting area. Again, if you do mount both an Arduino and a Raspberry Pi, you'll have trouble finding a spot for batteries and a motor controller. This board would be better served as part of a kit including a matched deck the bottom deck could have holes for AA, and 18560 battery holders, some of the popular motor drivers, and the motors. The upper deck could be layed out for an Arduino/RasPi, and a few sensors. All of that being said, it's strong and should be easy enough to drill through so I'll be using it in my next project. ... show more

  • Great Chassis
This is a great chassis but I didn't realize until after I had done some assembling that one of my tires is different from the other 3. This is probably going to affect its ability to drive straight so now I have to buy new tires. Note: My item was shipped in the product box. The delivery guy left it out in the rain and the box was destroyed. Luckily the contents were not wet, but it should have been shipped inside another box so this won't happen. I was unable to keep the product box, which would have been nice for storing the chassis and parts until I was ready to use them. ... show more

  • Sent with too-short bolt length
The 7 of the 8 bolts for connecting the motors to the chassis were the correct size. However, one was a 1/4 inch shorter than the other 7 and was too short to go through the motor. So I couldn’t attach one of my motors without going out and buying some more bolts that are long enough. I reached out to customer service and they were very accommodating. They sent me a link for the correct replacement screws and provided a partial refund that would cover the cost of the additional screws. Aside from the headache of dealing with this and the delay that came with needing to place a second order, in the end I was able to get what I needed. ... show more

  • Nice kit for a school project
This shipped quickly which was great because my son needed a chassis kit for an upcoming school project in a pinch. Was very easy to use and he was able to hook up his electronics to make his project come to life!

  • Works but not super strong.
Lightweight chassis. Wheels come off and the motors are held on by tabs instead of screwed directly to the board. One motor was broken on receipt and they shipped a new one, no hassle.

  • Nice DIY projects!
What you see is what you get, the PCB is sturdy enough to mount your Ardiuno or Raspberry on to build your own robot. It's a easy to assemble and a good starter kit.

  • Incomplete kit
While the parts received (4 motors, 4 wheels and 8 screws with nuts) are correct, the plastic chassis as shown on Amazon and in the description was not included in the kit. I don't know why it's missing. Fortunately, I can make my own. Unfortunately, other customers may not be able to.

  • Great little platform for robotics play
I mean, it's 20 bucks so you can't expect too much, but what you get is a really impressive platform for playing around with robotic possibilities using your Ardiuno or Raspberry. The kit is light on instructions so you'll spend a little time figuring it out and getting it right but I got it done in a couple of hours, including wiring. The wire they send for the motors is thin and stranded, and would have been hard to attach to the terminators at both ends, so I used solid core instead. I used some of the bag of extra nuts and bolts they included to attach my Pi. Nice touch. ... show more
